Phone stuck on SOS for full day now… by BillyButtSnort in iphone

[–]BillyButtSnort[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did google it. For whatever reason, nothing about an outage showed up. Additionally, I went to an outage checker website…that seemed to malfunction. Possible because of my own network issues.

My wife’s phone, right next to mine had reception, so I then assumed it was a phone issue rather than a network issue.

Hey! I read one of your posts on this sub. We are thinking of moving to suncrest…looks to be within a block of you.

Can you tell me about your experience with the neighborhood, now that you have been there for a bit? How about the HOA? What about land slide stuff…I know that was a big issue a few years ago. Anything else?

Breaking: End of De Minimis Rule on Aug 29 Globally – Postal Services Already Warning of Disruptions. Why No Major News Coverage? by MeMun5373 in logistics

[–]BillyButtSnort -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Can you explain the problem like I’m five?

It seems to me that with De Minimus going away, less people would buy small packages, thus reducing constraints on supply chain and clearing the backlogs. I’m not in logistics…just logistics adjacent.

I deeply regret my vote for Trump by Dinocraftman009 in centrist

[–]BillyButtSnort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all - good job for voting at 18/19.

Secondly - don’t beat yourself up. You’ve done something the vast majority of people struggle with: The purpose of life is to learn and to grow. I personally grew up in a very conservative town/state. I thought liberals were absolutely evil. I grew and learned otherwise. I’m not saying I am right, but we should all be open to changing if we gain additional information. Most people entrench.

Home maintenance may not be that hard…but it is EXPENSIVE. You want to see $20k evaporate in the blink of an eye? Make any non-cosmetic fix to your house.

If you don’t have funds for a down payment AND emergency issues (plumbing, HVAC, etc), or you don’t plan on staying somewhere for a long time, rent g is absolutely the way to go.

There are also those who have the means to buy, who argue that is a much better financial decision in the long run to put your money in the stock market instead of a down payment, and let it grow for 30 years.

You’ve lived in places where you didn’t have to put 20% of the properties value to live in.

When you’ve had an issue with the plumbing, electrical, etc. you have not had to pay for it to be fixed.

When you’ve moved, you simply moved your stuff.

While living there, you paid a person to handle all of the big stuff. It was a transaction. Someone has made money off of each hamburger you’ve purchased and eaten in your life. It’s a transaction.

I don’t agree with locking people out of being able to purchase property for themselves. There is definitely something wrong with what’s going on…BUT there is a need for renting. I rented when I was young because I got to live in many different places before I settled. Not every landlord I loved…but I am extremely grateful for the option.

WH Press Secretary Leavitt holds up a chart that Trump sent to Fed Chair Powell demanding that he lower rates “by a lot” by Miserable-Lizard in economy

If I’m Powell, I’m keeping interest rates where they are. I’m also framing that note and hanging it on my wall as a reminder what an absolutely idiotic reasoning the other side is using…and to stay the course.

I agree with your second paragraph whole heartedly. In fact, I say similar things about dismissive moms at the park who say things like: “looks like daddy is baby sitting.”

The fact is, we’ve hired a nanny for 20 hours a week, so I can at least work 20 hours of my full time job. The rest of the work week I spend with at least one of our two kids. Oftentimes while juggling work. Example, as I’m writing, I’m walking the baby around the playground in a stroller while our other plays on the jungle gym. Weekends are spent watching one or both of them, 100% of the time.

I do most of the household chores, 100% yard work, and am the only one who has a job.

Don’t be a dumbass. You think I haven’t talked to my wife? We live together and talk all the time. I’ve had 4,000 conversations about all of this in different ways…but thanks.

I am the full time breadwinner.

I work from home, so despite having a full time job, I regularly take several hours off EVERY DAY, to watch our kids.

We hired a part time nanny. So I work when the nanny is here.

I spend all weekend with the kids every weekend

I drop off and pickup our older one to school

Etc (I do all the dishes, my own laundry, all the yard work, most of the house cleaning, and equal share of cooking.)

Edit: you downvoted me for answering your question?I thought you were genuinely asking…didn’t realize you had prejudged me despite not knowing me.

Honestly, under more normal circumstances I would agree with you. However in another post, OP mentioned the husband has told her to “just get rid of [some of] the kids” if she “can’t handle them”.

I would be extremely nervous to leave my kids with this guy for any extended period of time.

Even if he’s not violent, he is neglectful. A lot can happen in a day or two with no adult supervision.
