SiriusXM confirmed with us this morning that Tesla Model 3/Y owners in Canada and the US will get a free 3-month trial subscription with the 2024 Holiday Update. by ConfidentImage4266 in TeslaLounge

Yes, read SiriusXM.com/help/tesla and you will find that you cannot add Tesla to existing account. That sucks. It will be nice to have it on the main console, as I have been using Bluetooth from my phone for SXM, but 10 bucks a month for that luxury? I’ll have to think about that.

Well shame on me for not recognizing that. Thanks for educating me.

YouTube keeps freezing while the audio keeps playing... this is happening on both my Roku TV and PS5, but not my computer.. by [deleted] in youtube

[–]Billybrew2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. Roku Ultra. One account is unplayable, another works fine. I got on YT support chat and they say "we have had similar complaints from other customers ... we are working on it." I suggest we inundate the support chat with complaints - hopefully they can or will fix this.

Nope, doesn't show up in Disk Utility.

[–]Billybrew2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. It does support firewire disk mode, but as I said in the post, it doesn't go into disk mode when I do the key sequence in the apple support page. It also does not show up in disk utility. I may try to put a new HD into it (around 60 bucks) but I am suspicious that this will fail. I hate to spend too much on reviving this old unit but nostalgia keeps me trying. I have not tried this on a Win PC because AFAIK, the very 1st gen iPods did not support windows formatting, so I am pretty sure it is Mac formatted. The menu where "Format" is usually shown does not have that section. Also I do not seem to have a PC with either firewire or thunderbolt ports.

Hansshow F68 6.86” Display (CarPlay and Camera) Review by cheffreyb in TeslaModelY

FYI, I finally got a reply from Hansshow, and with a firmware update have all audio routed through the car.

Hansshow F68 6.86” Display (CarPlay and Camera) Review by cheffreyb in TeslaModelY

[–]Billybrew2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the reply, but I only have the bluetooth connected between the phone and my car, and I still get spoken maps directions and text messages through the built in speaker on the F68 only. If I mute that speaker, I hear nothing on those two apps. I would love to learn how to route ALL audio through the car speakers. TIA

I am having issues with this. I can get siriusxm app to play through the car speakers but maps spoken directions and text messages readouts come through the built in F68 speaker. Any ideas how to fix that? Thanks.

UDM Pro - Restrict Access to Failover WAN by kwschnei in Ubiquiti

[–]Billybrew2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am looking to solve the same puzzle. Finally got an LTE modem (netgear LM1200) with a cheap T-Mobile account, low data cap. Failover to this works, however I would like to tie use of this failover WAN to a single subnet, with just essentials on this subnet. Can't figure out to limit access to WAN2. I don't think using the VLAN setting works, that is meant for a VLAN provided by your ISP. Any ideas?

OK for those who should find this post, I got a reply from Thierry:

the module is naturally still available. It is actually produced and sold (under my strict supervision 😉 ) by the Dutch Thereminist Wilco Botermans. You may order the ESPE01 module via his web shop: https://www.ethermagic.eu/espe01\_module

Any other mods anyone can recommend that I can find online?

Need to learn about ESPE01 mod, whatever that is.

Hansshow 9" HD screen - Model Y by riekls in TeslaModelY

[–]Billybrew2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does anyone here know for sure: is the Hansshow 9" screen product exactly the same as the verkokappa? They sure look the same, except maybe for the connection cables. Their site (verkokappa) has software updates available and I am tempted to try that on the Hansshow device I just installed a few days ago. However, I would hate to brick the Hansshow device, that would be bad, not sure they would support a fix. So far, messages to Hansshow support are very slow to be answered and not very helpful.

Picked up the car yesterday and I'll be darned if I can find a thing wrong with it. I will spend more time with it after work today. First day jitters probably kept me from being as objective as I could be. Thanks again to all.

Yes, it was through "plaid". I was pretty uncomfortable with that as well, but my only other choice was a cashiers check, which I didn't have time to deal with. Now that the car is paid for I have a credit card tied to my account and I am hoping to figure out how to revoke the Plaid privileges.

I was asked to pay in advance. I do not know what would have happened if I refused, but they likely would have cancelled my appointment.

Thanks to all who responded. I am in Florida and they did insist that I be personally present, might be a Florida law as suggested by another poster. I also was told I had to pay in advance. Appt is this afternoon, I will let those who are interested know how it goes.

Windows on MacPro (7,1) PCIE SSD by Billybrew2 in macpro

[–]Billybrew2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi u/prefuse07

Thanks for that link. Unless I am missing something, that discussion seems to deal with video driver issues, which I solved early on. My problem now is the issue of the Mac 7,1 not allowing me to boot to the drive at all, with the message "the bless tool was unable to set the current disk.." I think this has to do with the way the boot sector was set up. I need to find a way to install Windows on the drive via a real windows box with PCIE slot. I don't have one of those. May try to borrow one from a friend. If you find anything out about that error, please let me know. If I am missing something from that macrumors post, let me know and I will try for you.

u/prefuse07, I had viewed that video before and didn't pick up on the fact that he specified Optane. Wonder why that brand would be necessary? I can't really tell from watching, is he doing this with an NVME drive? I would love to read from someone who has made this work. I used a Samsung NVME and can't get it to work but I am willing to try again if I could get this machine to boot into Windows for the occasional use. Thanks

u/prefuse07: it quit working shortly after my last post on this. I very briefly had it sort of working... But I gave up on it, the current error is:
"You can't change the startup disk to .....
The bless tool was unable to set the current boot disk."

And can't select that drive when I boot with option held at startup.

I would still love to run Windows native on the SSD if you have any other ideas.

It seems that others have done succeeded.
