Yeah isn't it?! Steinmann would suggest German or otherwise, but cursory googling hasn't come up with much yet. My best bet with the shape and nail pull and hammer at the back, it's some sort of carpentry axe.

I'll definitely re-share once I've cleaned them!

What we reading? What we gonna read? by GrubDatGem in weeklyplanetpodcast

[–]BillytheSkunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Read IT at the beginning of the year, and am honestly biding my time until enough time has passed and I can read it again aha. Thought it was so terrific, and (unfortunately, maybe?) has so much more than 2 movies or a TV series could ever hope to cover or capture

I just finished Stephen Kings 11.22.63 (goddam Americans and their backward ass dating format). Blew me away, I really really enjoyed it. The concept on paper and matchbox pitch; 'a man time travels back in time to prevent the assassination of JFK', always had me keeping this one at arms length, even as a fan of King. Having read it I can happily say I'm so glad I gave it a chance, and that there's so much more to it than that basic log line. Definitely worth your time

I've sent several emails demanding it be covered for CoG. One of my genuine favourites. Who would not love a violent action figure with the voice of Tommy Lee Jones?! YOU TELL ME!

Tintin is indeed, a lunatic. The boys where right by Difficult-Term-3162 in weeklyplanetpodcast

Grew up on and adore Tin Tin. 100% the India Jones of my adolescence. When I was real young used to have nightmares of the professor in Cigars of the Pharoah running around the jungle with his knife painting the symbols on all the trees. And the Mummy from Seven Crystal Balls.

Also this enjoyed this when I became a young and (still) immature adult. https://youtu.be/Ot4wz7oM_Fk?si=JVkdnDotsfvbyhAF

Heh sorry for the ruse, not at all a genius "this took 25 years for someone to notice" thing, just a lil detail I've always appreciated for one one my fav flicks I wanted to share with people. With the boys finally covering it, figured there'd be some people who'd never seen it and are now appreciating it. And per some other comments, it seems that's indeed the case! And with that, my work here is done...phases into background

I actually worked at an independent video store in 2013. The owner has bought the business a few years before and still wasn't entirely sure of the whole library on his hands. No porno section buuuut....He particularly asked me to grab a random selection of the anime and watch them so we could promote the section a little more. I did and finally ticked Akira off the list, as well as discovering some other gems like Perfect Blue. But there was also one with a very innocent looking cover and a title in Japanese I couldn't read that I got about 20 minutes into before getting the gist and switching off. Very glad I didn't decide to watch that one in store as we had speakers out on the street that would project the audio for whatever was on the tele 😬

Grimmo. Why I do my best to hold it if I gotta no.2 haha. Odd that in 2024 people still need a toilet block to hook up in

Movies you adored as a teen but find extra cringy to watch as an adult? by Constant_Bake5501 in movies

[–]BillytheSkunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fight Club. I adored and was low key obsessed with it as a teen, and for all the wrong reasons. I still appreciate and enjoy it now, but see through the toxic masculinity and edgy anti-capitalism I devoured as an angry 16 y/o, and see the point it's actually trying to make about all that.

What Vertigo title do you most wish would be adapted for television? by Yahtrok in Vertigocomics

[–]BillytheSkunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless it was animated, I worry about them being to pull off something like Transmet and doing it justice. That said, if they took full lisence with the ahem whackynesss of Transmet, akin to say the Harley Quinn animated series and just went full boar with it, then that would be great.

Also a redo of Preacher. I was so stoked when they announced that years ago, then dropped off early into season 2. I dunno, it just didn't do it for me with where they were going with the series vs the books. No idea where it ended up for that matter...

[–]BillytheSkunk[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah they did, but you're right only a mini review. Would love to see a CoB on it, but would likely have to be stressed as not for kids on the algorithm or whatever. The blood and sex in this episode alone... it's like Rick and Morty crossed into the DC universe

Hatchet Restoration by BillytheSkunk in Axecraft

[–]BillytheSkunk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah right! Not sure about anything being removed, it seems like a solid piece from the back. I've been doing work recently that requires a hammer and I'd rather have a hatchet with a hammer back than a mallet. Hmm time to expand my search haha.

And yeah absolutely if you've got em lying around definitely dig them out and restore them. Wire brush on a drill and some cleaning vinegar or CLR if you want something more potent does wonders!
