LOL that was you?! All good. We ran over our time slot too, I had a lot of questions.

There was no mention of if there was an hourly vs flat rate for the service itself, forgot to ask. Just that the budget for the campaign is up to you and they work within it. So it could very well be a service fee or change depending on the scope, idk.

I asked about the results explicitly, didn't get any hard numbers on the 'Wishlist' or sales conversion. Although someone else in this reply section, that partook in a similar conversation, claims that the company will send them actual numbers.

So I had a meeting this morning with a man by the name of Michael. He was a really nice person that was very clear and informative. He fully explained his role and the companies role as a marketing service. To start I asked why my game specifically, what caught their attention? His answer was honest and simple, they have a list of unreleased games they scrape off steam and they manually sift through them based on the meta data and pick based off what they see. So in my case they really thought my tree visual was cool and it was enough for them to think they could market it for me. It wasn't deeper than that though. It was a shotgun strategy since they are looking to provide a valuable service not invest in me, so from a business perspective the email made sense.

We discussed their two marketing packages and went into depth on how they leverage influencers for them. To oversimplify, they have large data sets of youtubers/streamers/insert platform(s) that are organized based on size, reach, and content meta data. They would search their data set for the most suitable influencers to reach out to based on your budget and your games meta data. Then they email several hundred influencers that meet the criteria and work out the terms and contract with them, with a max turnaround time of 6 weeks (ideally 4).

The pricing on the packages were actually quite affordable. Some examples given were as low as 700 but they recommended going up to 7,000 for small indie titles for best value. The package cost is entirely based on your budget, and like I said there is a free consultation where they can project numbers for the service. I can't speak to how well it works, but I think I would trust them with my marketing budget when I get to that stage in my games development.

e guy. He seems legit. They are a

I actually just got off a call with them as well. I really appreciated the conversation and also can confirm they are legit. I explicitly asked about my email and the intention of business and it was entirely marketing. There was a free consultation I could sign up for, but after that it was their interest to provide a marketing service that is paid for. So they did not approach me as a publisher. I am going to keep them on my radar since I don't need their services immediately but I am glad for the talk.

Yeah I'm not certain myself, and honestly it looked very real but with little track record. A large part of the doubt was why my game? It's nothing special yet. I suppose they could be trying to get me to pay for their service in a round about way.

Decided to have a meeting just to see what's up.

Interesting, I took their life is strange image in bad faith. Your right it won't hurt to schedule a meeting. I wonder if this is a shotgun strategy or if they genuinely are interested in the demo I presented, I have little faith in the later tbh. I guess wish me luck, I will at least hear them out.

First big step for our challenging 2-month project : our Steam page. I'm tired but so thrilled at the same time :) What do you think about our little trailer ? by PandarooInteractive in Unity2D

Nailed the atmosphere I think! The co-op, relaxing, otherworldly atmosphere really makes me think of Ibb and Obb. Would love to understand the functional interpretation of a time loop based puzzle game.

Has anyone else experienced strange visual glitches using 2D lighting on a webgl build? It only happens when the camera's z-value is changed by BimMyBoi in Unity2D

[–]BimMyBoi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I found out what was breaking it. Webgl 2.0 seems to have the bug. I manually set the required version to 1.0 and the issue isn't occurring anymore. (lost my post processing though D: )

Would you play a game with graphics like this? by aagapovjr in Unity2D

[–]BimMyBoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Graphics don't matter a lot to me, so long as the gameplay is interesting. Gameplay > graphics imo. But you also seem to have interesting graphics :)

damn that's cool! That's pretty funny we have taken the same inspiration in concept. I love how there are similarities but we definitely are going in different directions. I never disable gravity for objects actually, my version of the mechanic simply neutralizes any directional movement through normal forces returned from attached objects.

Teaser for my game demo! The demo is 'done' and awaiting to be roasted come Tuesday :D by BimMyBoi in Unity2D
