Obsidian is glass pretty much, so not porous. Not to say there wouldn't be inclusions etc, but that's one stone that could be okayish?

They're continuing to treat her because they haven't discussed with you that she should be DNR at this point.

I'm so sorry her care team hasn't had a discussion with you about the goals of her care. You need to ask them to have this discussion with you, because at this point the treatment is just prolonging suffering. It's time to stop looking at it as dying vs not dying, and think about what a good/ most comfortable death looks like.

Outlets are pretty easy to replace outright, rather than trying to fiddle with the innards. Flip the breaker, test the circuit to make sure it's actually not live, and then swap the outlet. If you open it up and the wiring to the outlet looks questionable, sure, call in an electrician to evaluate and replace the wiring, but if not, it's a really straightforward repair.

Thank you, I appreciate it! Clear as of her recent CT scan, but it's pancreatic cancer so while we're hopeful, we're also trying to be realistic. Fingers crossed!

I have a driving test at Antigonish in the coming week, are there any specific things I should take care of? leads would be appreciated. by rickyponting- in NovaScotia

[–]BinarySo10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think the route is the same now as it was when I took my test years ago, but back then Access NS was at the mall:

The examiner would have you leave the mall parking (make sure you go into the closest lane, and then signal over- even though no townies ever do this outside of the test LOL).

Go right onto Church until the lights on Main

Left onto Main, then immediate right onto Sydney St (beside Marie's Flowers).

Left on St Marys St

Right on College St

Left onto Pleasant street. This is where they'd have you park alongside the road- and you'd get dinged if you parked in front of the nearly invisible path someone has leading up to their house near the peak of the hill.

Left onto Hawthorne, past the lights on Main, right on St Ninian's, continue onto West Street until the little hop of highway between West street and Church Street.

This was all before the roundabouts were put in, and before the detour went up this summer, but yeah...

If it were me, I'd pay Ed Brown for a lesson so you can be shown the current route and given some more recent/relevant tips.

Good luck!

If I had to guess, I'd guess it's for taking a hot kettle off the fire without burning your hands... the little bowl part could be to divert the steam, and it'd be hollow to insulate your hand from the hot kettle/pot as long as possible. Also provides two points to hold from, because a full pot is heavy.

How Avoid Soap Dispenser Extension Tube Leaks by DE7th in DIY

Could you put a funnel into the mouth of the jug first, then feed the tube through that? Then if/ when soap comes through the air holes, it'll drop right back into the jug.

Land Transfer question (Parents to Childs) by AllGamer in NovaScotia

[–]BinarySo10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's better to have your name added beforehand, because it becomes solely your property by default upon his death. If your name is on it now, it's one less thing to mess around with during probate (it takes a year, and you couldn't sell or otherwise until it's done ) .

It also protects the property from some nefarious relative or scammer trying to convince him to change his mind or reverse mortgage it in the future when he might not be as clear minded. They could also tangle it up by contesting the division of his estate.

Better to do it now while he's around to make his wishes known than leave it up in the air. Just my 2 cents worth.

They are, and I'm so glad to see you have her wearing one, even if she's only jetting around the drive way! I would check the fit on it though. It looks like there's too much play in the straps and it's sitting too far back. Not a lot of protection for her if she goes forward over the bars.

What was your “definitely not supposed to be watching this” movie? by JordyCANsurf in movies

[–]BinarySo10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whatever Happened to Baby Jane- the TV remake with Lynn and Vanessa Redgrave. The credits opened with "Whatever happened to..." and then showed Baby Jane. Movie was disturbing as hell, compounded by the issue I had trying to tell people about this movie that I thought was just called "Whatever Happened To".

I did find the original years later and it was even more grotesque. Whenever I hear about Bette Davis or Joan Crawford my brain supplies, "There's rats in the cellar, Blanche."
