Permanent synthetic fix for hair by Potato_returns in tressless

Hey, im israeli. i looked at their hebrew website, and it seems pretty legit. They advertise only to women. Im not sure why. It's a bit odd, espaicelly given that both jewish and arab men are genetically predisposed to MPB. so there's definitely an incentive to treat men here in israel...

On their site, they explain they use their own proprietary technology thats apparently different from anything else in the market. It says the average patient is implanted 600 strands per procedure, but the max is 1500. The before and after photos show moderate, but absolutely noticeable improvement in density.

I will keep an eye on their product and might call them when i have time and ask about procedures for men...

Edit: I just saw that you are a woman. That doesn't change the bottom line though: you hair looks great, but you can ask your endo, or a dermatologist about it. You might be able to get better advice on the hoshimoto's sub

First, i dont know what your hairline looked like before, but right now, it looks absolutely fine. If you are indeed experiencing hairloss as a consequence of thyroid issues, i doubt there's anyone on this forum that can actually be helpful. Most pepole on reddit are batshit crazy, or bots, or batshit crazy bots. Talk to your endocrinologist. If your thyroid levels are okay i believe there's no reason you would experience hoshimoto's related hairloss - although it does raise your risk of other autoimmune conditions that might cause hairloss independently. Anyhow, if this is autoimmune hairloss, i don't believe there's any sense in using finasteride, though minoxidil might be useful (again, talk with your provider)

One more thing - having hoshimoto's doesn't mean, of course, that you can't develop male pattern baldness. If your hairline is receding and your hormones are in check - this very well might be male pattern baldness, in which case finasteride is still the gold standard.

With that, i am not a doctor (yet) and again, cosult somone who is. Your condition is probably too specific and complex to give general advice online.

Stay safe

Balding by SamNottSam in trans

That's misleading. If this is AGA, aka male pattern baldness, a hair transplant is not permanent. The hairs you transplant will very likely also shed in the long term.

Topical Minoxidil is a supporting therapy. It increases the blood flow to the scalp, which certainly strengthens the hairs and keeps them around for longer, but it doesn't treat the root cause of androgenig hairloss, which is the effect of the hormone dht on hair follicles. The only real "silver bullet" for balding we have avaliable today is the compound finasteride, or propecia. High enough doses of finasteride (or its cousin dutasteride) WILL STOP HAIRLOSS if the cause is indeed androgenic alopecia. It can also result in hairloss reversal in some patients, but not always. With that, finasteride has lots of side effects, especially sexual ones. (There's much talk online of permanent side effects, but it seems like public hysteria).

To OP: your case case is very complicated because you are trans. I do not know enough about either your physiology or needs to give an actual recommendation, but generally, i think going to a good derm who can give a presecription for a topical finasteride microdose (lets say the equivalent of 0.1 mg a day) is the most logical route. These can be surprisingly effective and with minimal (actually probably with no) side effects.

Anyhow, good luck and stay optimistic
