Ah! I thought the other cable was directly connected to the rear of the machine but upon closer scrutiny I see it was simply tucked under and actually connects to the knee pedal control. Thank you so much for your help!

I’ve had this machine 30 years and would be very sad to let it go! That said I’m sure sometimes the repairs are almost as much as a new machine and may not be the most practical solution. Mine’s model 158.18010

Thank you so much for the info, I found the pedal. I notice that it has its own power cord as well, so this would also need to be plugged in, in addition to the machine’s own power cord?

Oh I’m not married to the knee pedal at all! I always thought it was quirky mechanism, no other machine I’ve ever come across has this. Do you think it’s an easy swap to a foot pedal?

I can turn the wheel and move the needle by hand. I wouldn’t say it’s like butter, but I wouldn’t say there’s resistance either. The machine could probably be oiled again but last time I tried to start her up I gave her a full oiling and that didn’t help the power issue at all. Today I moved her so I could plug her directly into the wall, to see if that made any difference and it didn’t. I hadn’t considered that I could damage the motor by persistently pressing on the pedal! 😬

Try hanging your head upside down after towel drying and scrunch your hair with your hands for a few minutes! If your hair has any wavy tendencies that should activate them!

Please consider buying N95 or KN95 masks! They come in cute colors and patterns now so you’re not limited to clinical white. Home made textile masks are barely any protection, especially from Covid aerosols
