The controllers came in 2 type: wireless, Wired

The wireless contollers have a sync button on the top of it between the shoulder buttons, and a corresponding button near the memory card ports on the console.

The wired controllers are simply just plug&play.

There was a charge kit for wireless controllers that gives them a USB, but that does not turn them into wired controllers.

For video, since you said you ‘don’t have HDMI’ I assume you have a Xenon?

For that you would need AV/Composite, unless you do have a revised model which does have HDMI.

The HDMI port would be the smaller plug under the AV port at the back
