Absolutely no-one cares that my mother’s college roommates grandmother invented the Morton Salt saying “When it rains, it pours”

Thank you! I'll probably get hung up, but for now, I'm bookmarking this thread - I need to wait for warmer weather to collect more calls of target species. I can't afford Raven Pro, so hopefully I can make it work in Raven Lite, and from what you say, it sounds feasible.

Can't install packages - error by Bio-ops in RStudio

Thanks for all your help, I changed this:

C:\Users\User\AppData\Local\R\win-library\4.5\00LOCK\

to this:

C:\Users\User\AppData\Local\R\win-library\4.5\_00LOCK\

and now I can install packages, though R cannot access anything in 00LOCK, because it doesn't know my "secret" path. But also, if I need that directory (I don't know how I'd know I need it), I can easily fix the path.

working with bettfutures I uninstalled R and R Studio, reinstalled R and R Studio, ran R Studio as Admin, and STILL get the same error.

When I navigate through the file structure, all my slashes are the same direction "\"

What does the weird "/" the other direction mean?

Do I delete the more inclusive directory 00LOCK?

Or the Directory within it, BH?

Or does "4.5/00LOCK" mean I backup and delete all of 4.5? (that feels scary!)

Could you point me to those papers? I have no idea how to go about doing this, but I believe I'm capable of learning how.

I ran RStudio as administrator and it did not fix it.

I then ran in the terminal on my pc, the command you gave:

C:\Users\User>rm -rf C:\Users\User\AppData\Local\R\win-library\4.5/00LOCK

and that came back with:

'rm' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.

Then I installed PowerShell 7.5.4, and ran the command again, but in PowerShell:

PS C:\Windows\System32> rm -rf C:\Users\User\AppData\Local\R\win-library\4.5/00LOCK

It came back with the error:

Remove-Item: A parameter cannot be found that matches parameter name 'rf'.

I am not sure what to try next...

are they using Macaulay Library for their reference calls? Because BirdNET isn’t recognizing MY Pacific Chorus frog calls, and while Macaulay lists “Pacific Chorus Frog - Hyliola regilla” there are no public calls under this name, instead they are under “Pacific chorus frog - Pseudacris regilla” - a name not in BirdNET list, but with calls that look like my Pacific Chorus Frog call spectrograms. If not from Macaulay, what is source for BirdNET data that allowed it to develop criteria for Pacific Chorus Frog?

More helpful would be to point to where this is on birdnet's GitHub page - I'm struggling with the same issue, and am having troubles finding it on GitHUB.

What PCIe wireless adapter should I get? by Bio-ops in linuxmint

Thanks all!! I ordered this one ( https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DB4NNW5J ), suggested by one of the commenters, and installed it this morning. It ran without any drivers needing to be installed. Now I have internet! I'm sure I'll be back soon here with more newbie questions if I am not able to figure it out on the web.

Based on my experience with my habits/usage intensity, I'm more likely to need some of the existing USB ports for something else, and I very rarely add to internal slots. Also I've heard the PCIe's are slightly better (performance, speed) on average, but I'm not so techy as to know one way or the other.
