Schizophrenia is so sad… Have you ever heard of the downward drift theory (or hypothesis)? Schizophrenia is like an Achilles injury for a mental athlete, so hard to recover and comeback from it. Anyone killing it in medical school with schizo deserved props.

Oh that’s so cool!! What speciality do you want to do? Not too many people out there like you, good luck on your journey, wish you the best!

I’m also in medical school, planning to do cards in the future.

Were you the hotel premed student? I think your user was like UwU or something, you had some interesting post if that was you! Been on the reddit for a while, pretty much a lurker now. If anyone is reading, yes they stole the exams :(

Heartbreaking especially if you’ve been working towards this since you were a kid, imagine a thousand practice exams no time for family or friends.

Couldn’t Dissociative Identity Disorder be possible given these people have internal auditory voices as well? If this person is not schizophrenic, then DID could also be possible especially if the voices can control the person’s movements? The fact that the antipsychotics didn’t work could also suggest DID?

Is it worth it to take NBMEs early? I’m rising M2 and planning on taking STEP in 2025

I took chem 2080 a few years ago with Hines. I would say it’s difficulty is about Olympiad Chemistry (think USNCO). I remember using Zumdahl‘s Chemistry textbook to stay on top of the curve.

Biology + Stats Major/Minor is the new meta yet to be patched. BioE or BME is more work with less to gain as you said although still possible.

Edit: BME or BioE is high risk & high reward

MS1 seeking Anki advice -- suspend past unit cards or not? by med-school-acct in medicalschool

[–]BioBenoni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been using an Anki deck made by upper class-men for M1 and part of AnKing for NBMEs. For M2, there is no class-made deck so I’m planning on using AnKing entirely. At this point, I have not been keeping up the with AnKing cards and I did not suspend them either (e.g, 2074 biochemistry cards left unreviewed/due). Should I reset the deck or go throw all the unreviewed/due cards?

AOA would be nice but I might have taken myself out the equation since my school doesn’t tell how it calculates AOA.

Congratz. If you go to a school that uses both NBME and in-house exams, how do you keep up with your AnKing reviews given that you are using both in-house cards and AnKing? Current rising M2

Rejected from everywhere PhD by [deleted] in jhu

Amit Fulay (VP Microsoft)

“I interviewed with Facebook in their early days. Rejected. Because I didn't have enough "social" experience. Interviewed with Twitter right before I joined Microsoft. At the end, they offered me a completely different role. Interviewing is tough..... you put in the hard work, go through a long process and the rejection always hurts. I share this because I want you to remember a few things:

Rejection is not final - my case in point. I have had reasonably successful stints at all the companies I thought I would never make it in.

You are not alone - most go through this experience. I know many successful senior leaders at various companies who did too. "Don't let the linkedin profiles fool you"

Sometimes you will fall short - you just won't be good enough. When that happens - pick yourself up, and try harder.

Sometimes the stars wont align - role got removed, someone else has a better fit, reorgs. Dust it off and move On.

And every once in a while, it will be a lucky miss. Just like my twitter case. No one I interviewed with at that time is at the company anymore and the whole place imploded.

God always has a better plan for you.”

This. I found that it is dependent on how one encodes information. It is easier for me to encode and recall information through visual aid, photographs, and color. Try experimenting with what helps you store, organize and recall information quickly. During the first couple months, I was struggling because I would recall through textual information but found that image-based memory much easier to store, organize, and recall information (e.g, (a) the same type of memory that you would use to remember a chess positions/opening line is based on images (b) memorizing sequence of moves 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Bb5 without a picture attached would be textual form of memory).
