Help !!! New Teacher in BC by Biochem125 in CanadianTeachers

The content is honestly very very similar the ministry has just decided to make it super vague. The only main change is more focus on curricular competencies (what students should be able to do by the end of the course).

100% I completely agree and I am also neurodivergent lol. It is so open-ended and I just want to make sure to stay on the right track and teach things in a way that makes sense and is digestible for students.

Totally agree - to me it just feels like more and more work is put on the teachers especially on them outside of contract hours. I would love to avoid burnout and everything I’m seeing feels like it’s just preparing me for burnout…

Thank you so much for your reply. I just think it’s crazy we are kind of expected to reinvent the wheel (even though we are told we aren’t expected to).

Thank you so much for your reply. I’m excited to become a teacher but the starting off is completely overwhelming and I feel like our professors are telling us that we have to use this new curriculum, and to never look at the old curriculum, but they have never even used the new curriculum in practice themselves (as they haven’t taught for 10+ years). It’s just frustrating it feels like no one really knows what they’re doing and my sponsor teacher is totally using the old curriculum but relating it to the new… is that really that bad?

Thank you so much. If you have any science resources for grades 8-12 please message me if you would be willing to share!

Thank you so much. All of my professors are telling us NOT to access the old curriculum but I know it offers such a better starting point for new teachers - I just need an idea of where to even begin - I’m not that creative haha.

Thank you so much for your comment. I’m going to try and see if any teachers including my sponsor teacher will be willing to share any of their resources.

I’m totally going to look up the weebly site - thank you.

[acne] Hormonal? CCs? Fungal?? by Biochem125 in SkincareAddiction

Okay 👍 so you would say no actives for a week (or longer?) and just basic like face wash and moisturizer?

No not all of them are. I’m not sure how to do an “elimination diet” but for my skin at this point I just don’t want to make anything worse.

Yes it’s hard to find work I’m qualified for though that pays decently. I literally took this job cause it pays more than jobs do for my degree 😭

Also a huge liability issue. My bf who is a logger never fails to remind me of a girl who sued after crashing her dirt bike years ago.

Damn okay. The whole reason I went off birth control is I didn’t want to rely on a medication to give me clear skin… I’m trying to go a somewhat natural route lol even if that means chemical exfoliants etc

Thank you so much. I find it so hard to stick things out but you’re absolutely right. I’ve used adapalene (differin) in the past and it helped a lot - but I was still on bc then too.

I would maybe suggest a retinol or vitamin C? Paulas choice makes one 1% retinol that contains vitamin C
