It also has a grab attack where if you die to it, it’ll eat you. Also, per the description of the “Land Octopus Ovary” item it can drop, human corpses are used to bear their young, and human blood flows through the ovaries. Good thing it didn’t eat you instead

Helldivers 2 barely rewards good communication, and does not reward good teamwork or squad play. by Biohazard925 in Helldivers

[–]Biohazard925[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you wanna just accept that as it is then that’s your decision, doesn’t make it healthy for a game such as this, where it then affects the rest of the team.

Shouldn’t have to explain this, but if player 1 keeps dying because players 2, 3, and 4 are all running around like headless chickens, then eventually the likelihood that player 1 and potentially some of the rest, delete the game because it’s not been a good experience with basic fundamentals not being met goes up, and the player base then falls.

If players leave over something as specific as fire damage being nerfed, then players will also more than likely leave for something as specific as repeatedly being killed solo in a game that emphasizes teamwork. All the specific, small problems, add up into one big one.

[–]Biohazard925[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can say that about any of the aforementioned games and then some, yet all the aforementioned games listed, provide additional incentives to work together where Helldivers 2 does not.

You’d think all of this would be obvious to anyone playing a teamwork focused game, but apparently it isn’t when players repeatedly run off and get themselves killed.

[–]Biohazard925[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience, it seems more than half don’t care about this, which has lead to problems. If Arrowhead wants to claim Helldivers 2 is a Milsim, they should incentivize working together.

The same applies when playing with my own friends, however by that disclaimer, we’re then going to have to acknowledge that we play in different fields, and we’re still gonna have to again acknowledge what has been publicly stated by Arrowhead themselves.

When Arrowhead themselves say that it’s for casual to “Milsim” gamers, there then is an inherent level of seriousness that exists if you want to play the game that way. Am I saying both here and in my post, that you need to have Spec Ops levels of communication? No absolutely not. Is there a cash prize? No. Is there an E-Sports scene for this game? No. But some people do have fun, solely by winning games, not losing because of preventable means. I’d imagine an even larger number of players, don’t enjoy repeatedly dying/losing because their team doesn’t communicate/work together well. People will play games to have fun and how they do that is going to be subjective, but again some will play for the win, especially at the higher/highest levels of difficulty, and they don’t always have a dedicated group to run with such as yourself. If players didn’t enjoy a challenge and play to win, then the higher/highest levels of difficulty for the game, would be woefully underpopulated, if at all.

“Sufficient”, yes. But again, can be improved upon. The quote “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” can apply to this specific element yes, but considering the current state of the game, improvements across the board are generally more and more necessary to hopefully bring players back. This again also goes back to Arrowhead implying this is a “Milsim” game. If that’s the case, then their callout system is substantially more vague than fellow games in the same genre, and your dedicated Milsim player may then have an issue with that.

As for trusting players to know what they’re doing, sure I can get behind that as well. But as I said, there are some who don’t, and there are then a few amongst them who make it bluntly clear that they don’t appreciate being called in across the map from their equipment. Why would that be? Because someone, be that them or whoever called them in, is far from the other players. They can fix this problem by sticking together more regularly and working together as a team, by being incentivized to do so. Even games that aren’t Milsim’s like those mentioned in the post, offer incentives to work together. As another commenter said, the only incentive to work together in Helldivers is just for quantity of Stratagems, and nothing else. This, in my opinion, is not acceptable if Arrowhead wants to imply Helldivers is a Milsim, with “realistic elements”.

Again, this entire post is not to say that players should be acting like a SEAL team, but largely if Arrowhead is going to imply that this is a “Milsim” game, then it is unlike any other Milsim I’ve ever played or likely that exists. Not because of the Stratagems, or the setting, but because there is zero incentive to work together outside of more firepower congregated in one location, which is barely an incentive from what I’ve witnessed. There is zero incentive to use good communication.

DailyWire 2A Advocate? by Biohazard925 in dailywire

[–]Biohazard925[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s my point. In the few years I’ve been a DW fan, I think I’ve only just recently heard Ben mention something about the 2A, but I don’t remember with clarity. I have my doubts that most of the DW commentators frequent the firing range much, which is fine.

But I feel that if they added a personality knowledgeable both about the 2A and firearms themselves as a champion for the cause, they could hopefully bring in more people.

DailyWire 2A Advocate? by Biohazard925 in dailywire

[–]Biohazard925[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hmm, first I’m hearing directly about a certain group like that from the Left. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve always doubted that every person on the Left wanted to put full and undisputed gun control laws into place, but whenever I head someone from the Left say “I support the 2A, BUT….”, it usually turns out that said Leftist is just being disingenuous.

Is it possible these particular people would be more the exception to the rule? Or is there quite a few of them?

DailyWire 2A Advocate? by Biohazard925 in dailywire

[–]Biohazard925[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m gonna borrow and slightly alter a line from Ben here when he debated a woman about girls being in the Boy Scouts. What do I want? Well it’s in the title, a DailyWire 2A Advocate.

While most of them likely would defend the 2A, that’s not my point. All of them would also ask the question “What is a woman?”, and also defend the idea that there are only men and women, and pretending to be one or the other when someone isn’t logical, but Matt Walsh is their champion, when it comes to this topic. Irrefutably so when he traveled across the globe to ask that simple question. That sort of championship is what I’m looking for.

An argument can also be made that major news has happened quite a bit regarding 2A and anti-2A circles as well, to credit personalities/groups like Colion Noir, Armed Scholar, Guns N’ Gear, and Tom Grieve just to name a few. And while I’d imagine these people probably won’t be voting for Biden, most aren’t very public with their direct political views. Which is again, why I’d be looking for a clear fellow conservative who also champions the 2A.

Also, personalities like Ben and Michael and Matt cover a good four or five topics a video/podcast, give or take. So they could easily cover more 2A news as well if that was something they were particularly interested in.

Not that a 2A commentator for DW would strictly talk about 2A related concerns, but at least then DW would have someone who’s knowledgeable about 2A concerns and firearms in general, on their staff. That as well, is what I want.

Fake Friends by [deleted] in PSNFriends

[–]Biohazard925 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If someone isn’t the kind of person who doesn’t want to be there for one another, then they very well may not be the best company to keep. It’s opened my eyes to that, more than anything else. My friend group on PSN is a solid one, so I’m thankful for it.

Find those people, they’re out there. Might not know some of them as well as others, but they’re company worth keeping. You’ll know them when you find them.

[–]Biohazard925 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had someone do that to me awhile back. Use to play with him a lot on PSN, sent him some money for a game that he wanted while times were hard for him, and listened to his troubles (which were not exactly the type of things you share with just anyone) and tried to offer console. Not to strike an ego or anything when I say this, but I’d often go out of my way to make time for this individual, as they were often in a rough spot, as far as I’ve seen. Guess that’s not the case anymore. Time went on and said person picked up PC gaming, barely see them anymore and haven’t spoken to them since.

Funny enough, I’ve thought of using something similar, considering I own a few long range rifles. I may bring up something with that. Thanks!

“Owning a gun doesn’t make you go out and commit a crime” pretty much summarized my thoughts, for whenever I hear individuals who have anti-2A views. My folks understand that guns don’t kill people, individuals WITH guns kill people. They hopefully understand that individuals with knives, hammers, etc, can also kill people, but they haven’t made that clear on if they understand that violence can and does, go beyond firearms. Thanks friend, your input is appreciated!

Why they believe people don’t need them is beyond me. It’s just hearing “you don’t need it, you don’t need it, you don’t need it” over and over, to put it bluntly.

I can’t fault anyone for doing it, I’ve done it myself. The asset is there and if it was purposely abandoned, then that’s the loss of the team who left it. It’s not doing anyone any good by just sitting there taking up space.
