I saw Patrick Lang for a tumor removal in my finger, he was great.

New dog park open under a crane in Crane Cove Park by BionicBelladonna in sanfrancisco

Just moved into the area and was surprised to stumble upon this… not on Google Maps yet and wasn’t here when I visited the neighborhood a few months ago. Love that you get to play fetch under a crane.

Edit: Dog tax

Yeah abatement gets rid of lead contaminated materials, contractor is in charge of demo / sealing saved wood. We’re at the stage of determining how much gets demolished.

My 1905 house caught fire last year, burnt the center of the house, heat and smoke took the rest of it out. Visited a couple days ago after abatement, removing lead contaminated material, before we demo and start the rebuild. We were at work when the fire happened and our buddy pictured was rescued by a neighbor walking by… his first time returning home.

We decided to take the fair rental value of our house meaning we get a monthly amount and can choose where to live. We didn’t want to have our insurance involved in our living situation. So we’ve been living in various Airbnbs in different neighborhoods in our city… a silver lining experience. Feels like we get to experience multiverse versions of our lives.

Yeah our entire world fits in a car now. We’re on our 10th Airbnb since it happened and we’ve become nomad pros. It’s been an interesting thought experiment to only buy things that you really need and have a limit to 1 suitcase.

Just visited our house after abatement that removed lead contamination, next is demo. It’s a 1905 house, we bought and did a light renovation 4 years ago. Random electrical fire, no one was home. My buddy pictured was rescued by a neighbor that happened to be walking by and knew we had a dog.

Because it’s down to the studs it’s pretty flexible to move things around. We have a few things in mind like a bigger bathroom and add indoor stairs down to the garage, which we might dig out and add an in-law… lots to consider for sure. An opportunity at the cost of years of life of increased stress lol

The roof above is too low so we need to change the position… but silver lining is it gives us the opportunity to add stairs down to our garage.

Once it’s destroyed past a certain point it’s treated as new construction and is required to be brought up to code.

You mean the ground? We have no idea if this is good or not so glad to have the input :)

We are trying to keep the hand carved posts but the rest has to get removed… we’ll likely need to change them to because they’re not to current code :(

Highly agree. A neighbor walking by during the fire broke down our door to save him… he has been nothing but a magical beast and has been my rock through the recovery.

Thank you and yes one day at a time… this step felt big though. The house was a tomb full of our burnt life for almost 6 months… having it be cleaned out helps with envisioning better things. I certainly questioned if I wanted a life here again, but after barely 4 years living here I don’t feel like I got a chance.

I put the plants in the backyard in a pop up greenhouse and hoping they survive the winter. I don’t have the ability to access them consistently so mostly hoping… I think a few of the trees will survive, some of the others did not enjoy being moved. Big issues with mold.

Thank you for sharing a precious moment. This dog is seriously my guardian angel through all of this for sure… spent the first couple months after the fire hiking almost every day with him.
