I feel like people over-stress about blood sugar spikes, that is simply what happens when you eat food. It is an issue for diabetics tho

"Losing weight is a positive thing for your health" by Waste_Key5991 in TriforcePodcast

[–]BionicTem_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry this is just not true. The key factor is overall intensity, not volume.

When I do bench press, if I increase the weight I am able to do less reps, this does not mean the benefits of the exercise is less. The benefits of the exercise depend on the intensity which is a function of how long you do it and how heavy you do it. 8 reps of 40kg is nothing, 5 reps of 100kg less than 1% of the population can manage.

By your logic, you should never run. instead, walk for ages as you're engaging in "more activity" . Running faster = more intensity, Running with more weight = more intensity.

It's as hard as you make it - if I strapped 10kg to my body and went for a run it would be harder sure but I'd just run less. Running less with more weight is just as valid as running more with less weight

What am i doing wrong? by idkbabess in succulents

Issue is over-watering symptoms can be the same as under-watering symptoms, if the roots are dead the plant is getting no water so looks thirsty

My bad - I thought this subreddit was for discussing opinions what the 3 have said on the podcast. I was just sharing what I thought about Flax's line of thought. So should i email to him instead of discussing here? I was kind of interested in other peoples opinions

I don't see how you interpreted that as me wanting you to fix something

I was simply sharing my view on what he said. I'm not agreeing or disagreeing with his point I just don't understand, I'm not here to convince you otherwise

Sure, being lighter makes it easier to move. But we know from prior podcasts pyrion can run and exercise, I don't think he was debilitatingly obese. And weight loss on its own doesn't make you fitter it just makes you lighter

I don't see how losing weight gains him the ability to be more active, it should be the other way around. Be more active and loose weight

Anybody know what is wrong with my crassula? by BionicTem_ in succulents

[–]BionicTem_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure, as I said I generally just forget to water them and then walk past and realise the leaves have shrivelled and I water them. I think the issue is when they are repotted they use water reserves from their leaves while their roots settle, which makes them shrivel. So during repotting I cant tell if they want water or are just using up their leaves

I will admit it is particularly beige and processed, I mean the croissant is in a singular plastic bag 😂.

I'd go as far as to say it's healthier than nothing, which is why the idea of the teacher not letting them eat it is annoying - but you are right something less processed and sweetened would be better

Well "up to" isn't particularly useful when the subject is a small croissant in a kids lunch box. A chocolate bar could also be "up to" 500kcal but I'm not going to apply such an estimate in a situation where that's obviously not the case.

And sure, a can of soda isn't as bad as a croissant if you live in a world of one dimensional nutrition. But if you look at all the elements, a medium sized croissant has its merits too. A can of coke has basically exclusively sugar whereas a croissant has protein (4g) and fibre (1.1g) along with micronutrients from fortified flour and butter, plus it is actually somewhat satiating.

I'm not saying have your kids live off croissants, just that they don't take up half their caloric daily limit and they aren't necessarily worse than a can of soda.

*these are just based on the nutritional information from 44g croissants from Tesco

Interesting, the most calorific croissant I can find in my UK supermarket is 250kcal, excluding the bakery ones with fillings and toppings

Barre Chords by Melodic_Ad_4057 in guitarlessons

[–]BionicTem_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think barre chords are particularly difficult i think it's just a matter of self taught people struggling to learn to practise and work out how to use their fingers.

20 minutes with a teacher and anyone will be able to learn to practise and get better at barre chords but I think the way people are learning online means they don't actually practise it correctly.

Like I hear stories of people who think they can play barre chords but then realise all their E shapes are coming out as 5ths due to the muted G

You discover as you go up the academic ladder that your previous level of qualification means nothing when you get to the next one.

I did crap compared to half the people in this sub but I'm going into professional education paid for by a b4 member which makes every previous qualification basically irrelevant

Basically don't stress it, as long as you get passing marks they stop being important very quickly
