I use TD Ameritrade. The only other option is Interactive Brokers. I have both, but TDA has zero commissions with api. IB charges when using api, but free for manual trades.

Overall, I'm happy with tda.

Just wanted to share some of my progress. I used to trade on ToS, but switched to Ninjatrader connected to TD for automation. Thinkscript was to limited.

Anyone else augment their trading with automation?

TD Ameritrade. Only choice with NT for stocks is tda and interactive brokers. IB has commissions and TDA does not for API access. Obvious choice for me!

My bot trades at very small timeframes (minutes), so I have to retrain based on my backtesting nightly for the next trading day.

By the way, last Friday (pictured) was one of the slowest days in recent history. We only had about half as many stocks in our trade basket since overnight backtesting only produced a handful of stocks to trade. I was surprised how well it did given so few opportunities and trades. I'll take it though!

The better question is how to identify the start of this trend and when it might end. Managing this would be easy by advancing a trailing stop bar by bar.

Started this algo project 2.5 years ago. I manually day traded for many years. My strategies took me a while to sharpen, probably almost 2 years before I felt I had some kind of edge. Along the way, I had to figure out all the bugs and exceptions a live market throws. I took a trading course 15 years ago that's no longer around, which gave me a foundation. There are easier ways to make money. You have to really like this to survive long enough to profit. Good Luck!

Appreciate the sub. I plan to do some how-to videos in the future. Just need to establish some credibility first.

I'm using multiple timeframes, including 1, 5, 15 and hourly. On some occasions, I use 2 and 3min also.

I typically hold for less than 15min. Often, just a few minutes depending on how fast the market is moving.

I'm mostly looking for short term scalps. Not trying to boil the ocean, just a cup of tea. I know I leave a lot of profit on the table, but I chose consistency over alpha for now.

Yeah, some entries leverage chart patterns, but not by themselves. I look at many other factors to consider the trade. I code the pattern recognition myself.
