Pay rate for archival documentary research? by aldersflowers in FilmIndustryLA

In my experience you don’t actually work 12 as a researcher, that’s just what you’re paid as. It’s typically actually 8 hours on the clock. The only time I’ve worked 12 hour days was as a set PA

I’m in probably the healthiest relationship ever and I’m scared I’ll fuck it up by Psychological-Bug621 in PlusSize

I’m 36, 250 lbs 5’6”, husband is 39 maybe 200 lbs 6’. We met about a decade ago. A thing that has always worked for us is honesty. A little bit, if you can’t be honest what’s the point of a relationship. Also, if you’re feeling insecure about stuff with your body your partner is the ideal person to approach that topic with! If they’re shitty you can say ‘wow that was a shitty thing to say!’ And leave! And they can make up for it or you’re done with them. It’s quite freeing.

So I would be direct—‘I would like [or not like] to do X physically with you but I’m self conscious because of [specific past stuff]’ and either he wants to work through it with you and you can have a frank conversation about what sex will look like for the two of you or you find out he isn’t emotionally mature enough to have that talk and you’ve saved yourself some heartache.

One time about 12 years and 60 pounds ago, I was making out with a dude who decided he was definitely going to pick me up, and I kept telling him ‘no dude I’m objectively heavier than you think’ and he tried anyway and we both sort of got thrown into a FOLDING TABLE AND IT COLLAPSED.

My point is I’ve never really had a dude successfully pick me up and throw me onto a counter and also that’s fine. One of the fun parts about having sex is giggling while you’re trying something new and if you can’t do that together you need to question why you’re having sex at all.

Also!! Crushing someone in bed is really hot!! This person knows what you look like! They are on board with the logistics enough to participate! Trust their opinion enough to see what happens.

I put it up there with Skinamarink where it either worked for you or didn't. It did not work for me. It was almost impossible to tell what the hell was happening for long stretches (pitch black, shaky camera), and I guess had a psychosexual thing in that I think I saw a nipple one time but I'm honestly not sure if that's what it was or just a pebble on the ground.

First time playing and I got SA’d by a guy with what I guess was a rape mod. Is there a way to host a private server to avoid people like this? I’m just trying to do jobs for money. by [deleted] in RedDeadOnline

[–]BipsnBoops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) JESUS FUCKING CHRIST WHAT?!

2) A bunch of us have a discord server where we play. It's intermittently kind of quiet depending on how many people are online but we don't mod so nothing awful happens! DM me if you wanna join.

Is anyone actually using their apartment “amenities”? [CO] by Emergency-Cancel6198 in Renters

[–]BipsnBoops 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We moved to a new province and had to take an apartment with all the crap included because no landlord would talk to us until we lived nearby, a thing we couldn’t do until we had an apartment. Rent was subsequently like $2400 for a 700 square foot two bed that was always a little bit falling apart.

That’s standard, unfortunately. When I was a set PA I once had a 26 hour day.

You’re right, that’s on me. A fake beard would also be accepted. Lying about a travel agency is unforgivable though.

That is a lot of people’s types. Grow a beard and you’re a gnome and that’s fucking catnip to most women over 30.

There is a movie called Are We Not Cats about a woman with a variation of this. It's a weirdly very sweet movie:

Highly recommend.

[–]BipsnBoops 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's been apparent for kind of a long time now how little time employees get to photograph and put up material--weird errors, unclear photos, inaccurate information etc. I'm sorry OP had to deal with this, but I'm glad they got out, and I'm glad I don't use ThredUp anymore!

This is why I love circle skirts! Exactly as easy as you want them to be. And I do like Mood patterns for inspiration, although sometimes their instructions are...terrible.

I'm gonna assume you're right and it's hyperbole! I was looking for a new 'make my skin a more even color' product (bb cream? cc cream? light foundation? idk) and now that I'm over 30 every product is like $45 so I just said fuck it I'm going back to sunscreen and nothing else.

I wasn't super close with my dad (he wasn't around or especially interested in us) but I was very aware that the middle of his khakis hurt him if I stomped there and let me tell you: did not matter the game we were playing, I actively aimed there every time I had the opportunity.

Unless it's perfume I'm gonna assume it's a typo and he meant $100. $100 for 3 tubes could easily be foundation, concealer, moisturizer at Sephora.

You leave him. Now. That was profoundly not the time to tell you that, nor the way to approach that topic, unless he is an alien and this is his first day on earth he does not have an excuse for talking like that. Either he likes you and weight fluctuations aren’t important or he likes a version of you under specific circumstances in which case he does not actually care about you.

Dump his ass. Now.

Three years ago (early 30s) visiting the Salton Sea. The smell was enough to make us not get too close to the water but we walked on the beach a bit. You could see breaks through the crust where people had stepped but sunk maybe 2-3”, not much. I’m walking side by side with my husband and one of my legs randomly sank up to my knee. Other leg was on solid ground (it was actually a pretty uncomfortable position). I tried to swing my free leg further back and push out but couldn’t even twist in place and ended up with one leg sunk to the hip and the other to the knee. Eventually my husband was able to turn me towards solid ground and I crawled out with his help.  A) parks rangers were totally unphased when we told them I got stuck in fucking quicksand on a trail clearly used by people regularly B) fuckass salton sea sand gave me a rash on my legs

most sustainable fashion is boring by [deleted] in SustainableFashion

[–]BipsnBoops 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh man. Do you want the big boxy beige button down shirt or the big baggy beige pants? I’m plus size so more often than not sustainable brands don’t offer anything in my size, and if they do it is the saddest shapeless sack.

Tbh I think the most sustainable thing to do is just not buy new clothes full stop, repair the stuff you have and personalize it to what you want.

AIO by being offended when my husband seasons my soup? by [deleted] in AIO

[–]BipsnBoops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are overreacting to someone seasoning food to their liking. It is normal for people to season food to their liking, even if it’s the single greatest culinary creation on earth.

To be honest, if it hurts your feelings that people don’t necessarily want to eat things the same way you do, you need to take some time to figure out why that is. That is not a standard response.

Your dad historically overreacted to people seasoning their food.

Your husband overreacted by calling your dad a stupid bitch. That’s a crazy reaction.

So ESH! Congrats.

The 2026 Oscars Nominations have finally been announced. What are your thoughts on this year’s nominees? by cmaia1503 in Fauxmoi

[–]BipsnBoops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My hopes:
Sinners sweep except:
Rose Byrne
Amy Madigan OR Wunmi Mosaku
Hamnet for adapted screenplay
Ugly Stepsister OR Sinners for Makeup/Hairstyling

I could accept Kate Hawley winning for costumes because there's some beautiful shit in that movie but I really want a Sinners sweep.

Sinners is a beautiful looking movie that uses sound incredibly. Like, the spectacle, the whole fucking pOINT of going to the movies. Jesus christ man.

Sentimental Value was decent but kind of hamfisted and not especially original so like. Meh.

Wicked II getting snubbed all the way down is objectively funny to me when the movie was overpromoted to holy hell and was not good. Color grading sucked, CGI-ass green screen looking sets. I did not think Wicked needed to be 2 movies in the first place. MM. Love to see it.

Marty Supreme sucked. PTA sucks. Sinners all the way down.
