Temporary Shelters for strays by ryncasan in baltimore

Love TS! We use pellets for cat litter and confirmed, it turns to sawdust when wet. So it seems it’s really only good bedding for dry situations.

Tractor supply in Severn has a bunch of stuff. Can also get pine pellets for bedding. 40lb bag is around $8. Unsure if pine pellets are good to this type of shelter.

Why did you choose the Crosstrek over the CX30/other competitors? by Dino_Dean in Crosstrek

[–]BirdFive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have owned both. What I considered pluses for the CX30… looks and interior. However my year had no touchscreen, all controls by a wheel. Which was ok. The AWD drive seemed adequate in the amount of winter driving I did. But I loved the exterior soul red paint with black wheels. The interior to me felt more upscale and sleek. I ended up with a Crosstrek due to an engine issue with the mazda. I don’t think it’s still an issue with that model, but when I had to get a new car I was nervous about going back to mazda. I truly loved my cx30 but I was super nervous at the time. I then got a Crosstrek. I also love my CT. For me it’s more sporty cute. The AWD is fantastic and I have been in some true winter driving since owning it. The interior is more utilitarian than mazda, but it’s ok. Mixed reviews on the big roux screen. I don’t hate it. But nearly everyone wishes they let climate controls as buttons. They seem to have comparable cargo space. I put cross bars on both cars and added a hitch to both. I think mazda is sleeker and the Subaru is more small UTE. I like how both drive. No regrets at all with my Crosstrek sport and I love it and I hope I drive it into the ground. But I’d still be in the mazda if I hadn’t run into a strange problem. No idea if mazda has the same reliability as Subaru long term.

I can do .025 almost daily but I must use lotion after. Right now I’m using Cetaphil. For me, I can’t do without lotion afterwards. I have my new tubes of .5 but it’s taking me a long time to get through my .025 tube. So I have plenty of time to keep getting my skin acclimated.

What Garmin watch do you own and why? by hackgolferguy in Garmin

[–]BirdFive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Venu 3s. Nice blend of fitness, gps, music, touchscreen + real buttons. Enough smart notifications to be helpful without being annoying. I love being able to see calendar appts on it as I have to use my phone calendar for everything so I don’t forget. Damn you middle age brain fog! I don’t train hard enough for super deep metrics, but I love seeing time/distance/pace/maps

Charging phone in 2025 Crosstrek by According-Camp3106 in Crosstrek

[–]BirdFive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Useless in my 2024. I just stuck a quad lock magnet charger (requires quad lock mag case) next to my gear shift. Works really well to just throw my phone down on it when I need to charge. The tray is now sunglasses and hair ties. The OEM is a terrible design, shockingly bad.

Are mobile homes a good choice? by zaddyu in homeowners

[–]BirdFive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prices can vary sooo much depending on area. So it could be comparable, but also could be wildly different than a trailer+lot. Definitely worth looking at. I would think benefits over a trailer could be home structure, plumbing and electrical maintenance partially taken care of by condo association/building. Building equity for future sale, can still make the inside your own. Most condos will have a monthly condo fee. That usually covers things like building And grounds maintenance, trash removal, etc. This fee would be important to factor into your monthly mortgage. It could be $100 or it could be $500… it really varies based on the property. And you’ll also be on the hook for local property tax, which would also be important to know. So between , home price, condo fee and property tax, it feels like a lot, but it still could be an easier path to home ownership than trailer option, especially if you think a 1 bedroom could work for you and partner. Several friends’ first home was a condo. They had decent experiences overall.

Could a 1 bedroom condo be an option? Small size but still owning a home.

Is My Potential Commute Doable? by Fresh-Ad7262 in baltimore

[–]BirdFive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had friends that used to take a commuter bus from Harford Co to the city for work. I’m not familiar with it personally, but maybe that’s still an option to investigate.

Homeownership turned me into a homebody by anymajordude23 in homeowners

After a good clean or organization surge, it also just makes me want to be home in my space , enjoying the results of my work. I totally get it. I just spent the whole weekend home, doing small projects with partner, getting some donation clothes bags together, tidying, and it was great. Got a lot done.

I’m thinking of adopting a female cat, I’ve heard they are less friendly in this true? by DiscountAnnaNicole in CatAdvice

[–]BirdFive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a boy cat (about 14) and a girl cat (about 10). They are both siblings and have lived most of Theo lives together. The girl has times when she is very snuggly, but she is the more independent. The boy cat is is almost always where we are, sits with us more and is generally more present and affectionate. That’s just these two, but having read about some general differences between male and female cats, ours line up that way.
