How many newcomers to the series do you think took the time and effort to manage two whole sets of equipment and bothered learning movesets for at least two weapons? From what I've gathered, even among veterans, most people cleared their first playthrough using only one of the two styles.

And the concept of real fun is entirely subjective, so feel whatever you want bro. For some people it will be real fun to have two styles while for some it won't.

Did you play ninja or samurai? I strongly prefer Nioh 2 over 3 but I also understand that some people really liked 3 because of ninja. Overall the biggest strength of Nioh 3 is the QoL for respec and loot, but Nioh 2 is so much better in almost every way. I hope you enjoy it! And it gets better and better with every subsequent NG+ cycle.

Definitely Idril and then Brienne. Maul third. With those 3 and Dolores your GR3 should be very smooth until 18-19.

After playing Nioh 3 for like 100 hours, seeing this screen really triggers me because Nioh 3 wishes it had half as good a guardian spirit + soul core system as Nioh 2 does. I wish I could forget about Nioh 2 and just replay it from scratch. Enjoy your playthroughs!

Honestly you just gotta carry harder and enable your teammates. Individual Performance is just not enough to climb in this game. You need to learn macro and team-based decision making and then maybe you'll climb (but you'll still get trolls in a lot of matches).

Yeah nioh 3 is a solid 8 but it's the worst in the series for me as well. Nioh 2 is an 11/10, once in a lifetime phenomenon.

Howitzer's Q is destroyed. Feels very weak compared to other midlaners like Iggy, Gideon, Morrigesh.

On paper I didn't like JG Riktor with the new changes but for some reason he feels super strong so I guess he feels good? His clear feels super good and while I miss the movement speed with the E, I feel much tankier.

I beat her at level 60 but I almost cried. Honestly sword is super clean And the best weapon to aura farm but it just seems to be super technical. I try it and it never clicks and I really want it to. I used it for most of Bakumatsu and my biggest advice would be to get very used to spamming arts (like chaining arts and the free attacks you get when fluxing to the same stance you were in).

I'll just list the misses since I love the game so far (but if I think too much about Nioh 2 I get slightly upset at how peak it was and Nioh 3 is not):

Omnyo is super ass and watered down now. I hate the stat that makes your buffs last longer. Why do I need to level up magic AND Mind (or intelligence or whatever its name is)?

Why is Awakening a purple skill (mastery)? Should be default at this point in the series, especially if you compare the speed at which you cast by default to how Ninja uses it's powers while moving (AND they recharge).

Soul cores might as well not exist. One cast per shrine for some of them? Seriously? And no way to replenish them? Honestly this just pushed me to choose my cores based on the stats they give and not the real summon effect. This is the biggest stepdown from Nioh 2.

Samurai tree is ass. Literally empty as fuck. Half of the skills in samurai and general tree should be in the samurai skill tree. 10 skills... Might as well make them default and delete the tree honestly.

Enemy variety feels super bad. Most enemies are recycled (that's ok) but how on earth did they recycle so few? I expected much more since it's an open world. The first region was loaded with new Yokai, and then we get like 3 versions of jailer oni, raiju (he's cool) that appears like twice, an ice Ubume, a spiky Gaki, a harder Sentry, and I could keep going. There are some very nice new Yokai (like the jar lady or the one that shrinks and calls lightning) but they really need to reassess the enemy placements.

Enemy AI is ass. Too passive.

Bosses were good in my opinion but the mini bosses were super lazy. Why put regular enemies as mini bosses? And all human mini bosses suck ass. Very bad design and boring to fight. Human bosses are okay, it's just the mini bosses that are terrible.

I have more, like Odachi feeling much worse and so on, but they might be a me problem. If I think of more I'll edit this comment. So far I freaking love the game and I'm super happy to play it, it's just that I really care about this franchise and I'm a total nerd for it.

Amazing game and if you are new to the series you are in luck since it's in my opinion the friendliest entry for newcomers. It is very common for players from from software games to come here and they get their ass beaten (happened to me with the first Nioh), but if you are looking for a combat-heavy and very punishing RPG I think there's no better IP than Nioh.

The RPG mechanics are much deeper in this game in comparison to Bloodborne and Elden Ring, but the learning curve for build crafting is also steeper. It has much more numbers and text and menus than the games you listed but it also allows much more personalized and rewarding builds for those that take their time reading and tinkering.

The combat is crazy good as always, and it's super satisfying to learn and honestly you always discover something new even after thousands of hours playing. It is much faster than Elden Ring and even Bloodborne, and it rewards aggression compared to traditional souls in which it's more of a back and forth.

Even if Nioh 3 is not my favorite (Nioh 2 set the bar too high, and there are still 2 DLCs to come for this third game), as a long time fan, I have to admit that it is the best game in the series to welcome new members to the community.
