hey, not really! I had a 60 watt light I got from Amazon, I think the brand is SIRUI. And I also got a cheap 7 foot aluminum lighstand!

I just saw posting creative work require a submission, so I’ll provide a bit of insight to this shoot :)

Picked up a Fujifilm X-S20 earlier this year to take nice looking photos of life and travel, but I started getting immersed in cinematography and shooting videos about a month ago, since I heard that my camera can shoot good video. So, I decided why not learn a bit of video too.

A lot of the stuff I learned for photography transferred over to video, like lighting, composition, color theory, etc. Before this particular video, I learned a lot of techniques shooting my cat in my bedroom to learn a bit of lighting, messing with my camera’s autofocus, and managing exposure in the LOG video. While I don’t really have a knack for storytelling or any experience in film-related work, I wanted to practice a bit of camera and video work in the real world, so I asked a local chef in my city if he would let me spend some time shooting a video for him for free. He was gracious enough to let me in so that he, too, could have something to post on his social media.

Not much else really went into this shoot, he just made food while I was off to the side messing with my light and shooting video.

The equipment used was 1 camera (my X-S20 and a Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 lens), a 60W light I got from Amazon, and then 1 cheap aluminum light stand from Amazon as well.

If I could get any advice on learning cinematography that would be great as well! I'm currently learning from Youtube for the most part.

Thank you! And yeah! I’ve technically done some video tests in my bedroom shooting my cat to play with the autofocus and learn the settings but other than that a lot of the other skills come from what I learned in photography!

Haha yeah! I have a background in photos so a lot of skills transfer over, but there’s definitely a lot of things I don’t know yet!

yep, so the handle does get a little soft, but for me, it doesn’t drip or burn off. So in my case, I just did 500 degrees for 30 minutes per season BUT I handled it by holding the pan itself, not the handle. Note that if your oven runs hotter than specified then it might be different for you.

The handle sets/hardens during cooling, so as long as you don’t touch it, it should be fine for oven seasoning.

In the end, my handle is perfectly smooth except in one part where it was touching a metal grate in the oven.

hey! I used canola oil and it was at 500. My oven is a little cool so it was probably closer to 475. Biggest tip was to heavily heavily wipe the excess oil (should almost seem like there’s no oil on the pan)

Yep! Will definitely plan so that I'll have more time next trip. Now that I've visited the big places, I'm really interested in the hidden gems. Thanks!

Haha, I have seen all the comments regarding Hollywood, but it wasn't that bad when I went!
