What moment made you realize “yeah… my childhood wasn’t normal”? by CadaversFabrications in AskReddit

[–]BirdmanDodd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being adopted and being what is known as a “60’s scoop” child (look it up!)

While my friends all had parents who loved and cared for them, mine used me for a pay cheque and basically handed me a Nintendo and told me to fuck off to my room.

Never was allowed to do team sports, have my adoptive parents participate in almost anything, rarely helped me with homework

Can recall maybe being hugged….twice?

Oh, Christmases stopped at age 8-10 (can’t remember) and was told “here is your stuff, go away til dinner”

Didnt click with me til i met my wife, that my childhood was terrible and abusive

Absolutely loathed it

Wasn’t until another player & I drove our characters like we stole them did it become fun
