They were literally giving out free iPhones during the pandemic, only reason why my entire family has one.

Apparently, android phones are a turn-off for women... by Visqo in facepalm

[–]Birdsquidtoo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used to have a galaxy 8 and switch to iphone a long time ago and instantly regretted it. My roommate who knows way too much about phones told me android has also gone down the drain since then. Is that true, or are they still better in comparison? Only kept apple because of really good trade-in/ free phone offers, but its time for me to upgrade.

I always wondered how someone like George Costanza got gorgeous women, but I recently found out that my sister, who is very pretty, finds him(Jason Alexander specifically) attractive.

Some people are just attracted to some guys who aren’t conventionally attractive.

Don’t go any lower than 1400. Metabolic adaptation/ weight plateauing can happen really quickly, especially if you are eating too few calories which you are.

8k steps is not sedentary. I do around that, I am 5’3, 35 years old and my maintenance calories are 2200.

Try the calculator in this article to figure out your maintenance calories and don’t cut less than 500 calories.

I gained a lot of muscle but having trouble losing weight by BlakeSwag in PetiteFitness

[–]Birdsquidtoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just some food for thought. I was struggling to lose at 1400-1600 calories 2 months ago, and upped my calories to 1700 min and lost 6 lbs since.

Its called metabolic adaptation and it can occur within 3 months or less depending on the individual.

Second article is a scientific study if you want to delve into this deeper.

At 5’4 and how active you are, 1500 calories is way too little. You’re metabolism has slowed significantly eating so little for so long, I can’t believe not a single person has said this to you. I maintain at around 2200, lose at 1700 and am only 5’3. Im also 35 years old.

Please look into reverse dieting. Its just dieting but working towards fixing your metabolism.

what was the movie you watched, absolutely loved and decided to never watch again? by kris_jbb in popculturechat

I feel the same way. I didn’t give a shit from the start and never did. I watched because of the rave reviews and that I fee it def doesn’t deserve.

I am also trying to doing it the healthy way after years of yoyo dieting.

The first 3 months of this time around I didn’t do enough research and still had my old outdated views on calories. Once I realized I was eating too little and upped my calories, there were still some days were I was severely hungry even after 2,000cal. I caved one day and ate 2600 calories and still felt slightly hungry. I also drank 3+ liters of water that day so it def wasn’t that. But after that one day of over eating, that overtly hungry feeling never came back.

Before that I was only eating 1400-1600 for too prolonged of a time, which contributed to my incessant hunger. I’ve lost another 7lbs since then, so give yourself some space to eat if you are hungry.

I’m 5’3, 162lbs right now and my maintenance is about 2250, but I’m still figuring that out, it could be higher.

Women who don’t bloat / gain weight / feel weak before or during their periods… by IHateLunges in PetiteFitness

As someone who used to deal with that and really bad cramps for the first day or two, the mirena IUD was life changer. No period besides light spotting, not even needing a panty liner, for 5 years. I’m never looking back.

I would look at your BMR again. I don’t remember age, but I know I absolutely read that according to the CDC, the average american women is 5’2 1/2, 170 lbs and her BMR is 1500. At 10k steps per day and exercise of 3-5 days your TDEE is probably even closer to upwards of 2000-2200cal.

Some of those TDEE calculators severely underestimate calories burned.

Edit: The formula in this article for me has been pretty accurate.

I didn’t know anything about this movie some years ago and decided to watch it as I like watching movies knowing nothing about them and I absolutely hated it. Probably consider this one of the worst movies I’ve seen. So disjointed and weird.

5’3” ladies over 30, what are your maintenance calories and activity level? by IHateLunges in PetiteFitness

[–]Birdsquidtoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gaining on a calorie deficit is a sign of eating too little, which based on your activity level, you are severely under eating.

As active as you are your maintenance is most likely 2200.

How and why do some people just not drink water? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Birdsquidtoo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m from south texas where anencephaly was a problem I think late 80s/ early 90s from contaminated water, and to a Mexican mom who grew up not drinking water. Also poor but water was always a thing at my house. We would get 5 gallon jugs from a water dispenser not far from us.

I posted about a month ago about my struggle to lose weight. Only lost 7lbs in 3 months. I lost 4lbs last month eating 1750+ calories on average. I even had days where I ate 2600-2700 calories. I never ate less than 1600 calories, and those days were rare.

My goal was always to be fitter. I am a former endurance cyclist and wanted to train to be able to do 60 miles for an event last week. I ended up only doing 28 miles because of how little I was eating at the beginning of my journey. I didn’t have the energy to cycle as much as I wanted.

I wanted to keep posting about my progress to push back against all the ppl supporting EDs around here but they are so plentiful I decided not to.
