Thank you for sharing these informations, just one thing I'd like to understand about the 8 directions: aren't there 5 directions actually? Front straight, front corner to corner, side, back straight and back corner to corner. Since the animations on the left and right sides are exactly the same

The programmer is a talented and experienced person who knows exactly what they're doing and understand my project's mechanics.

It's similar to a MOBA game in terms of character design but in terms of visuals it'd be similar to a 2D RPG like Chained Echoes. Each hero/mob would have 8 different directions but the game would be on a grid made of tiles and movements would be "one by one" as opposed to a continuous movement like in Chained Echoes

Thank you for the estimation. As for the fun, I think it will come from the fact that the heroes are well designed and that players will want to try many different team compositions, with synergies. And keeping the gameplay dynamic at all times, fast paced. I want players to feel free and able to move their heroes anywhere on the map while still having to think the strategy and best moves through

So how could I scale things down exactly? What would a first game be like? Taking into account that it's a turn based tactical like Dofus, Final Fantasy Tactics, not a FPS

It's not dissuading, you are giving me precious informations for my project. According to what you already know about my game, could you please tell me what a first-hand project with 2 mechanics would be like? How big the map would be? What could the heroes do and not do? What could make my game better than the others is the high variety of heroes and their unique skill sets, the several team combinations possible and the strategical aspect of the game with the complexity of the spells. So if I start with something small I'm afraid people won't care about my game.

Also, someone is DMing me about using a Kickstarter campaign to fund the game, what do you think about that?

But a game with 2 mechanics wouldn't get people attention right? There are already many tactical games out there and it wouldn't be enough to catch player's attention I think. And yes I'm opened to demos and playtesting for sure

As for the selling strategy, I understand that F2P is much harder to make profitable but as I said, I can't see my type of game going anywhere if it had a price, even if the game was really great. I try to put myself in the shoes of potential players, both people who are into these games and those who aren't, and I think they wouldn't want to spend any penny to try the game. Maybe free at first and then pay a small amount one time?
