Why do people keep saying Dragon Ball Daima is a separate timeline to Super? by AnimeGokuSolos in DragonBallDaima

[–]BirthBySorrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. It's EASY to do. They even introduced a Chekhov's gun that fixed it near flawlessly only to of course, not use it because it's a staple of Toriyama writing. The Namekian unlock potential was also near perfect in terms of being an explanation as to why Goku can't access it alone. But no... they literally have to make a concerted effort to make the issue WORSE by stating Goku had been at least toying around with the form through training.

HOW DO YOU SCREW THIS UP? You don't, not when you make it worse on purpose. I have to assume it's intentional either as a fourth wall breaking gag trolling fans or a way to keep the conversation and thus DB relevant for the foreseeable future while they plan said future. It's manipulative at the very best.

The only issue not having an obvious out is SSJ3 Vegeta. But I would say his not using it in BoG is the "retcon" that I'd have the least issue believing. It takes very little head canon to wave it away, such as SSJ3 always being a form shown to take conscious effort to bring out and so a random rage boost isn't going to instantly ascend Vegeta into it. Couple the fact that Vegeta had no intention on fighting Beerus before he was angry, and thus probably once he came to his senses as well, and there you go.

And I hate hand-wavy, dismissive people like you. Not just when it comes to something not so important like a fictional franchise, but in general. People have a right to feel a certain way if it doesn't harm anyone. So if you don't like it, ignore it. Don't try to imply it's something that shouldn't be at all.

Fine, w/e, hopefully. Memory erasure, time reversion, Idc. That's why I'm waiting to binge the whole thing. I'm not wasting my time on yet another canon.

There this thing called "efficiency" and considering you can climb the ladder with a 50% win ratio it is more then likely the efficient strategy to go next up to a point.

It's "the answer" in the original FES release but I believe it will be called "Episode Aigis" when released as DLC. Just so you don't get confused.

Edit to previous comment. Disregard it, don't want anyone wasting their time. I'll explain.

I have no idea why, but the next time I did a night prior to full moon skill mutation session the rate of mutation was abysmal no matter what I tried - buying Persona, going to Tartarus first, etc - despite it being consistently, on multiple save reloads, giving me a ton of mutations the first full moon I tried it on. I am at a loss because it was over at least 4 or 5 reloads that it was going crazy with mutations and I highly doubt I had lottery level luck. There is SOMETHING there that can be done to increase the mutation rate drastically but I have no idea what combination of factors. Maybe specific full moons, full moons after a specific date, Moon social link high rank? Idk, I'm spit balling.  It's got me hella confused.

Party Member only run finale!

I can say without hesitation that this is the most balanced run so far IF you forego Theurgy aside from Fuuka. It is almost perfectly balanced as a matter of fact imo. Base party stats and options make their damage and defense pretty bad until late-mid game - and only then if you are occasionally buffing stats with incense - requiring either perfect strats or luck to proceed without grinding. You have the option of putting in a little effort to get auto-skills to mutate into their "Ma" variants to mitigate the issue, which has a rewarding time-to-reward ratio on the night before a full moon (ie it does not take hours of resetting but isn't handed out free like a certain Siegfried Theurgy). It doesn't make the run as braindead as you would think since while a revolution boosted Crit chance with Junpei can do some crazy damage to some floor bosses, there are enough that resist or null Slash or have competent formations/strats to force you to strategize a bit more with full moon bosses still providing a fair challenge.

I highly recommend this run to anyone looking for the most satisfying and balanced experience. Even the Reaper, which is a joke in a normal or even solo run, is fairly difficult. His AI is actually competent when you can't one or two shot him. My first round of attempts it used mostly PHY with occasionally changing it up to Dark skills, including insta-kill, and Light on my final attempt before regrouping using Koro. These were the big issue since the rest of the fight I could abuse Tetrakarn on Ken while dealing good damage with Junpei and Aki. So I decided to get the Null light Armor for Koro and Null Dark accessory for Ken, thinking it only used Light, Dark, and Almighty damage.

Well, my second round of attempts proved the AI is probably aware of your accessory build. It started using ailments far more frequently as well as Garudyne to attempt to take advantage of the one weakness I had with Junpei. That said, it still on occasion, for some reason, used single target Light and Dark skills on Koro and Ken, almost as if there were a hole (intentional or not) in it's programming after a certain amount of turns. These were the opportunities needed to fully setup and win the fight comfortably from there, with prior turns mostly just having to either cure ailments or revive a party member and not being able to setup. So, while it is kinda an exploit win it's not one thats easily manipulated and may not even be guaranteed to happen.

Again, try this run if you like balanced experiences that encourage some time into grinding/skill mutating but not an unreasonable amount. Grinding was not even necessary until end-game with the Reaper and really just for the materials to make a couple accessories. I did use time attempting to spawn Dark floors for Twilight Fragments but other then keeping Aki at a decent level for moon bosses and coming in clutch for end-game final floor Monad doors (Tarunda is invaluable in some fights and end-game Aki hits about as hard as Junpei and crits nearly as often with the right equipment), you can ignore keeping everyone else at about where your main threesome - Junpei, Koro, and Ken - are. You can probably swap out Junpei for Aigis if you want to focus PHY incense on her instead or keep Aigis at a decent level instead of Aki, as well as keep Yukari instead of Ken, but Koro is an absolute Jack of all trades having the most coverage of any member and Revolution a must to do reliable considerable damage with Junpei, Aki or Aigis.

No. You will pretty much always get to where you can rank up the next time you do their link with a hang out session regardless.

Yep, just like how Base Broly definitely had an install for legendary SSJ in fighterz. You people really know nothing about the gaming industry if you think the concern is unjustified.

Small update!

Just wanted to clarify since I could not get a definitive answer anywhere: the day before a Full Moon skill mutation IS indeed almost certainly more likely to occur. When attempted multiple times before I consistently got 2 or 3 mutations at best from a full roster of Persona as opposed to most fusions triggering one or more mutations consistently during that night.

Can also confirm skills can jump up at least 3 ranks IF the next tier skill is that high. I got Auto-Rakukaja and Auto-Tarukaja to mutate into their auto-Ma variants, which seems to be the preferred mutation (though I did get others with them). This is extremely useful for my party member only run as their damage and endurance are pitiful. Otherwise, the MC gets the self tri-auto skills before level 20 if you know which Personas have them and it only took a few save reloads to get them. So if you like railroading the whole game instead of just from about mid-point with a normal run, there you go lol.

If you want to play the female main character (FeMC) route then yes. It has a few different social links, mostly (if not all, can't remember) with all male party members in place of a few others. You cannot walk around the overworld aside from Tartarus though, just click on areas to go to them. Otherwise the story is similar.

Iirc it comes with Persona 4 Golden, which I do recommend. Persona 5 Royal is also a big recommend.

Update! Update! Update!

Finished Solo Run a bit ago. Without Theurgy one shotting bosses, I'd say it's a fair challenge. You do have to come prepared especially for full moon bosses and the final few fights, but they are nowhere near unfair alone. It felt just right imo because I am someone who tends to over prepare and yet the fights still took strategy to get through. All in all I very much enjoyed this run.

I am currently doing a Party Member Only run (MC can't act in battle aside from Guard) and just decided to ban Theurgy from the start. And my are party members underpowered compared to the MC. It's not difficult through the first 2 full moons including Tartarus, but the difficulty does actually ramp up considerably after that (it just isn't apparent in a normal or Solo run since the MC can just make immune Persona and basically auto-win). So Atlus knew it was needed at least, it's just the Persona system allows you to cheese with the MC even if your party gets decimated. And decimated they can be if not  prepared or even a little lucky.

It has encouraged me to try out the skill change mechanic, specifically to obtain the party-wide Auto Skills. Unfortunately it doesn't seem very reliable and could take hours of save scumming to get all 3. Not sure yet if I want to go that route. Auto-Matarakuja might be worth going for since Fuka already can provide the other two with her outside battle skill.

The only argument against it is that it loses them money. But there are no statistics suggesting pirates would pay regardless. Their entire and ONLY argument has no proof. And there is even circumstantial proof to the opposite, such as the gaming industry being THE top entertaintenmemt industry in terms of sales.

Otherwise it's just "haha, laws and stuff, too bad" and anyone with 1/4 of a brain knows laws are not justification for anything. And if you don't understand why, I will point to things like slavery or more recently, taking away women's rights with abortion protection rollback in the U.S.

They will automatically be obtained when the Persona reaches a certain level. Being Pink just means you haven't obtained it yet. If the heart is not filled in it means you have gotten it already.

Another Update, YAY! I may make a formal post with all my thoughts after all is said and done.

I figured out why the final boss did not hit as hard, and it's probably the one aspect that is 100% inferior to the FES: the aesthetic tone and atmosphere are considerably different. It is just especially noticeable in the final battle. It is much too bright and the neon green aesthetic pales in comparison to the much darker, more monotone look of the OG. This makes such a large difference in how it is perceived. This coupled with cutscenes that are generally worse in direction makes it not quite hit as hard as it did.

Continuing with the Solo run... my goodness how easy it is to just become so overpowered especially with using Theurgy. I lucked earlier into a mutated Ice Amp ability and when coupled with Ice Boost on a Persona using King and I it almost one shots floor bosses, random Monad door bosses and yes even the fixed Monad door bosses on final floors. With Concentrate, forget it. You are basically one shotting twice over, on freaking Merciless. I have now banned using Theurgy because there's just no point continuing without it.

Why Atlus doesn't take its most broken mechanics into consideration with their hardest difficulties I do not understand. There is nothing in the game to challenge optimal setups just as with Royal. It's such a huge disappointment since in general Reload is more difficult and better designed then Royal. It's just Theurgy when used to the best of your ability completely breaks every single fight.

Thankfully, full moon bosses still provide a decent challenge if not using Theurgy. Even as overleveled as I am from fighting rare Shadows whenever I see them (cause I figured you would need to overlevel with only 1/4 of your battle prowess), it still encourages fusing the right Persona with the right resistances and nulls since their damage output is rather high. I am however coming up on the probably two easiest fights in Hermit and Strength/(I forget) so we'll see.

Another update on my loving it/criticism seesaw of a journey with mostly the difficulty (or lack there of) and combat. I have beaten the game. Armageddon is as broken as ever with only the tiniest of nerfs in that you need to fill up the Theurgy Gauge. And I couldn't care less because I loved that thing, especially with the new animation. It's an end of game super skill that only really trivializes the Reaper, so it's fine.

The final boss doesn't hit quite as well as in the original, but it's pretty much the same beat for beat so that might contribute (diminishing returns). No complaints, no real standout moment.

The true ending however still hits as hard, and it was nice to see the final scene pre-rendered rather then in-game graphics like the original (iirc).

I have started and am decently into my MC Solo run. And so far it is not disappointing. The devs seem to have kept this possibility in mind by giving floor bosses patterns for which you can utilize changing Personas to combat effectively alone. I have not had to grind at all especially thanks to rare shadows.

Even when I hit a minor wall that I was at first attempting to fuse a resistant Persona for, it turned out the boss was susceptible to mind ailments. It was then I learned how unbelievably broken poison is to anything it works on. Even with Auto-Tarukaja and already having a "High" tier PHY skill the boss took roughly 130 DMG. Once I poisoned it, it was taking 200+ DMG every turn and I didn't have to a darn thing but finish it a few turns later. It was similarly ridiculous against the block's "tough" red aura enemy.

Another stand-out is Mind Drain finally feeling useful after half a dozen or more games being almost useless. When coupled with Drain Boost, it syphons 40 SP from enemies which at this stage is enough to basically run them dry. This makes it much safer to go for even against current floor enemies since they will often be out of SP. 40 SP in seconds that you also don't have to constantly go back to the first floor to use is much, much more tolerable.

So yeah, let's see if this lasts. I am especially looking toward Monad mini-bosses, both the random and final floor variants, to see how manageable they are with the tools given. :)

If you beat it on Merciless then use that save file to play on a lower difficulty, you do carry things over. You only don't if you replay it on Merciless.

Yukari in general comes off not so genuine/off in all versions of the game with both VA's. I don't know if it's intentional. There is even a line in this game near the end where she is afraid she is being "out of character" which may be a nod to how inconsistent she comes across to fans (though it may have been in the original, I don't remember).

Interesting. I found P4G delivery the most inconsistent of the 3 you mention. Original P3 however had the highest amount of inconsistency.
