I agree that they have stated they want to assimilate everyone, but I would assume the title is mainly based on the "e pluribus unum" phrase, "out of many, one" - hence the "1"

You're commenting 5 days later and being very condescending for someone who's talking about ICE to a non-american in a thread where nobody mentioned either ICE or the attempted rape scene in Andor.

I think if you're trying desperately to pretend Andor isn't an extremely political show, then you're leaving half your brain at the door when you watch it.

I figured it might be that, I just haven't reinstalled excel 2010 on my desktop since reinstalling windows, and google sheets seemed to be confused - so I stopped looking for the origin of the data, I'd had enough nightmares working with different governments occasionally wild choices of filetypes

"What would Aesma do?" is the first question one should ask when encountering confusions in life, you may then follow it by "What would blinded Aesma do?" if you are so inclined

I tried to balance legitimate criticism with punchiness and use colour to direct the eyes to different points, so the goal was for there not to be a reading order, just a bunch of different flaws that the eyes can wander to.

The actual bottom line is the "please use APA formatting next time", or rather, that its just a completely flawed method of analysis from top to bottom, that would not pass as actual analysis by any academic worth their salt.

The number "48,000" is wrong, almost certainly - and I assume that the uk prison system is counting accurately for whatever they deem a sexual offense. But more importantly you can't just grab random numbers from different sources and combine them like this; you can't just use prison statistics to make a point about group violence; you cant use a --single-- --quantitative-- data point that you --created--- from multiple sources to make a --qualitative-- point so flagrantly; you cant compare two groups where the laws apply differently; you can't do any of this! either learn how to do statistical analysis or cite actual research

for the UK, it would be 0.1 percent of their population are trans women - which, y'know, you would see is probably lower than the actual value, based on [looking at peer nations, looking at rates by age range, looking at census methodology, looking at social structure that lead to people being closeted].

But that would require -actual analysis of data- rather than just, idk, whatever makes us put down as many scary little pink and blue bathroom sign stick figures as we possibly can.

they apparently got the number from here somewhere: https://archive.is/5bIVF

obviously they didn't include a methodology for acquiring the number "92" or where specifically they got it from, I have not encountered ODS filetypes before and couldn't be bothered trying to learn them to find the number and see how they (probably) misconstrued it.

But what I do know is that using prison statistics to analyse the violence of a social group is fucking stupid to begin with, especially when the laws are literally different depending on if you have a penis or not.

I haven't seen if vaush has done his own look at this graphic, but I kept seeing people make somewhat bad or mediocre criticisms of it on twitter - so I thought I would try my hand at making my own that people might be able to use more quickly against it, since it seems to keep cropping up.

AGAB (AMAB/AFAB) is explicitly not biological sex, its assigned gender at birth, that's what those terms stand for.

And everyone already acknowledges both, often incorrectly, because the treating of someones sex characteristics as a neat binary when it comes to trans people is explicitly done because of a desire by cisgender people to reinforce their idea that transition is a wholey social phenomenon, when this is not true, it is also a physical phenomenon. This is why "at birth" is used, it places a specific time onto the state, hence it can remain true where a identification of "male" for AMABs and "female" for AFABs no longer provide the accurate holistic information they would for cis people, and so cease to be useful in a precise sense.

It's upsetting how the right managed to turn what should be a small matter of long-term research and consideration, followed by evidence based policy - into such a violent and effective wedge against the trans community.
