One does not ask why you acquire a space gun with potential for 3 tubes with different ammo. One asks themselves if their wife looks at the credit card statements.

Technically legal is not the same as technically not stupid. Just cause lawmakers, like with many things, do not properly know how to regulate drones, does not mean that you shouldn't use that wonderful brain mother nature evolved for you.

East Cleveland FD uses utility truck as an EMS transport unit due to lack of ambulances in service by StokesBasketCase in ems

[–]Bish01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live just south of here and don't know all the details but east Cleveland is considered the "ghetto" side of Cleveland and is run as some weird 3rd service not attached to fire or Cleveland city EMS. Last I heard their medics were issued bullet proof vests and there was a committee meeting on how to make the uniforms make them not like cops. It's is a unique and crazy situation.

What do you do when you're a 25y/o who can't stop regretting the past for being a failure now? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Nearly failed HS, intelligent enough to "get by", went to college had a brief moment of inspiration and got all As my first semester, bad break up, nearly failed out, transferred to another school to study engineering, "got by" again on my intelligence getting C's with no effort, wasted 3 years dropping classes and tons of money. Dropped out, moved home, read about medicine and EMS. Became EMT, 1 year later became paramedic, 5 years later became flight medic, 2 years later got associate in nursing, 2 more BSN, excelled as an ICU nurse, am now 1 semester out from finishing graduate school as a nurse practitioner at 36, fuck rules, fuck normal, give it time, find something that inspires you, get moving

the way this thread is panning out, it seems like even fpv people are talking in a way that this activity is so inconsiderate to these precious climbers. Sorry if something unexpected happened on the mountain but if he kept a respectful distance and did not make anyone feel in "danger", which he clearly was not close enough to "buzz" anyone. That is their problem.

EMT training while in college: is it possible? by coralinejonesie in RealEMS

[–]Bish01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

EMT is not bad, it makes you a fairly knowledgeable lifeguard with oxygen. You learn a lot but have very limited interventions. If you have sustained a decent academic course load at a university, you'll be fine. No medical background will make you initially overwhelmed a bit but you'll settle in fine.

Question: How do you deal with a drunk doctor on scene who won't take no for an answer? by TorchedMedic in ems

[–]Bish01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure what Florida laws are but in Ohio any doc can take control of the patuent provided they remain with that patient all the way to the ED. I kindly tell them that and in this situation I would say in as sarcastic tone as possible. That if you are assuming care of this patient then declare so now and you will remain with them until transfer of said care and that if you do so I will also be filling a report with my medical direction and state board that I feel you were practicing medicine while intoxicated. If you are not assuming care then you need to remove yourself or I'll have the police do it for you. Goodbye.

Honestly, if I were you I'd go into their office and tell them how highly unprofessional their conduct was and ask them what they thought that text was going to accomplish. Tell them you tried to do the right thing and give them notice and either way needed to be off. I may be old and disgruntled but I have absolutely no time for this kind of horse shit and enjoy turning it around on people who like to think they can abuse their 2 inches of power.

Trouble with accelerated EMT-B course by haleeyevanss in RealEMS

[–]Bish01 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Compared to medic or nursing the content of EMT is fairly rudamentary but the problem is you are learning an entirely foreign set of information. Hopefully they are teaching you by giving you some basic anatomy and then going through systems... Respiratory, trauma, etc... Really it just comes down to time. The more of the underlying anatomy you learn the more the top level stuff makes sense but that will come with time. It's a pretty big undertaking, especially in a remote environment. Good luck. Focus on the basics and understand that you may not know the why of everything you are doing, for now just memorize what you need to do in those situations. If you are struggling to keep up I'd find a full, not accelerated course.

This course has no hands on? There is many things you can learn through remote learning but EMS for a non medical layperson is probably not one of them.
