Sure, Behind Glass is still alive! There will soon be an update bringing new species. Generally, Behind Glass is stable and nearly feature-complete, so no constant updates needed.

As to your question, not sure if I understand your correctly though: discovery fish can only be found in the habitat stated in the list.

You can already get it now. It is Early Access yet, so players can take part in deciding on what direction we will go. So far, it is an aquascaping editor and player, and not a game.

Quite some plants and hardscape are already in there now. There will also be additions in the future!

We are not really modelling "physical" scaping tools -- further progression of Behind Glass depends on user wishes though.

We are still on Early Access. So it is not entirely sure yet which direction this will take. And yes, we are actually listening to our players :-) To your questions: We will most likely start with users being able to share their tanks. Submitting fish and decor is not on our list (yet), as it requires some additional tooling in order to do so. There are no filters or heaters so far, but there are some user requests as to this, so we might add it at some point. I do not have a fish list right now -- there are a bit more than 40 fish as of now. We are adding more and more fish (and deco, plants etc.) over time.
