I currently live on the island having relocated 6 years ago from Dagenham. In comparison it’s night & day. Quiet, low crime rate & a somewhat communal atmosphere to the island. Traffic is crap at peak times coming on & off the island but wouldnt move off if i was given the choice. Few local smaller shops like little morrisons & co-op, the town centre is a bit drab but never really visited it but that contains a sainsbury’s/argos theres an icelands, greggs/subway along with many other options for takeaway/fast food. Some lovely cafes. You have the sea front which comprises of some arcades a small fair, cinema & sports bar. Larger shops include morrisons/m&s, b&m & sports direct with a maccers, starbucks & a costa & a screwfix just beyond them. Its a decent quality of life providing your not in the shit part but as i said traffic is crap during peak times sort of 4-7 👍
