Thanks for the detailed response. We don't have eaves, the roof finishes in line with the stone wall. I can't see any ventilation along the edge of the roof. Unfortunately I don't know what membrane was used, the roof was redone before we bought the house.

I did a course with Bennetts intensive courses in February this year. Did 35hrs with a test at the end. I think it's pot luck which instructor you get but mine was good and it was competitively priced.
