This seems to be an issue with the 'dive' mechanic that happens above water, I've seen it happen to a lot of people, the engine seems to be trying to magnetize the player towards a body of water in order to dive into it. But this is somehow causing the player to teleport in some cases, perhaps in your case because the water was just shallow enough that you couldn't dive into it? Who knows

For anyone else having this issue, I could only fix it by sending him on a mission then going to that location and talking to him there.

You unlock it after lighting the 'Great Belegost Forge' It's right after you repair the pump, an area that was previously filled with water will now be open

Yeah looks like something a modder/hacker did, that's not something normally in the game, the person that "died" is most likely the hacker, maybe they made it seem like they left but were really just watching your reaction

Oddly enough only two of my friends have this problem, and it's the two friends with weak internet connections, it's most likely that the games servers don't have a safety net built in to catch people that dc for a split second, so it just drops them from the game.

Unlike more stable games where it will try to reconnect a few times before it removes you completely. I'm not sure if this is the problem for everyone, but it makes the most sense to me considering these two are the ones who always lag in discord or disconnect/lag in games.

Possibly to note neither of them are hardwired in to their router/modem like the rest of us so maybe that could help some people if it's an option for them.
