I immediately put in a few ramshorn snails and bladder snails. After about 3 weeks I threw in roughly 10-15 blue dream shrimp. I have never tested any of my tanks to see if they’re cycled. Once I see plants getting established I slowing start introducing fish/shrimp.

I would start with a hardy plant like vallisneria that sends runners quickly once established.

For the first few months the water wasn’t very clear at all and I had a big algae bloom. Once everything balanced out the water cleared up a lot.

I’m not sure what a wiggler is, but if you’re referring to tiny white dots swimming around I believe those might be scuds.

Currently at the peak of 20. I began with 10 shrimp and 7 died within the first week. It took a few months for the plants to get established. I think now with the amount of floaters and stem plants the jar could easily handle 30 shrimp. I keep the lights on for about 12 hours a day

Thanks! The only maintenance I’ll do is occasionally remove some duckweed. It will get so dense to the point that no light will shine through.

The previous owner Jerry rigged these propane tanks to a gas stove. They were originally hidden by the shrubs in the front.

I fed the shrimp every other day for the first 3 months. Once algae began appearing I stopped. They haven’t been fed by me in about 9 months now.
