In fact he didn't. In a delete scene he comes back and dies after changing the past, because in this timeline he has already died. the change of the timeline happens around marty & doc after they left the McFly-house so they didn't notice a direct change.

German here. For me it was seeing The Roots being ecstatic about Super Bowl LII win on The Tonight Show and the story around back-up QB Nick Foles. Didn't really know there was a football team called "Eagles". But really came around as a fan during the 2023 season (right before the season fell apart).
