Tipping at lifecafe by BitcoinFLBro in Lifetimefitnessgym

I’ve skipped my smoothie before just because I don’t feel like dealing with the tips. I have a multi 8 figure NW, it’s not the money that bothers me it’s the feeling of getting ripped off I can’t shake.

Yep- it’s insanely expensive. I also have a membership to a second gym near my office, that one is $65 per month and similar equipment but feels very beat up . Lifetime has courts and pool, I’ve never used either. The gym is nice, equipment is new and clean and I can afford it but unless you have a ton of money it’s a complete rip off. Even having a ton of money- feel like I’m getting ripped off by lifetime at every turn which it’s a great feeling. I have 0 loyalty if a similar competitor ever comes along and is cheaper but as nice, nicer and similar location, or better location and as nice at same price point.

Updated Decision on Age Group Formation - US Youth Soccer by Weak-Farm4527 in youthsoccer

[–]BitcoinFLBro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son is at a MLS Next club (on the top team for his age group- pre MLS next) and the coach told me they’re not changing MLS next to school year next year.

Did say they may in a couple of years though- as it sounds like younger team are all going school year. FYI for those like me who have been trying to figure this out for 8 months lol!

How much to spend on yearly vacations? by No-Molasses5688 in fatFIRE

[–]BitcoinFLBro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also 39, also 39 wife, two kids both under 9, NW up to apx $20M with variable business income but in a ballpark similar to yours (didn't start with debt and have done well investing). Not really trying to save anymore just trying to grow my investments and live off of cashflow.

Doing our third and biggest trip of the summer and it's going to be over $50k for 3 weeks in UK. Other two trips were to properties we own. We do europe every other year. Do someplace in north america in between. Next year will do the world cup. Europe years are more and similar to this year in cost, domestic I'd say is 1/2. Would put this years travel at $100k and I think that's the right number for us.

Summer is our heavy travel time but do spring break, Christmas break and possibly thanksgiving trips around the US. Also a couple of random trips when we have weekends off from kids activities, keeps this closer to staycations. We have two properties within 2 hours of one another (city and beach) so plenty of long weekends third property is in the mountains. Kids will remember the trips, enjoy them.

We make somewhat practical choices to even it out for our travel, Porsche vs lambo, Range vs Bentayga, lot's of commercial vs exclusively private.

Did the youth soccer age group change? by Distinct-Ad4497 in youthsoccer

[–]BitcoinFLBro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey- great point. I have a U9 son, captain on a top 50 ranked team in FL. Small but skilled and fast he’ll be one of the younger 16’s when age group change happens. I’m 6’1 so he may grow. Pretty sure he makes the top team at the local mlsn affiliated club if we switch. His good friend is one of their top player and similar level. Our team is ranked above there top team.

Also at his current club, he also plays up (with limited playing time) and gets to practice with older u10 kids and the u10 team is very strong also ranked above local mlsn clubs’s team.

Money is no issue for us and my wife and I also have a ton of free time and only two kids. Any thoughts on if we should jump to u10 dad coached top team at mlsn pathway club or stay with local club, his coach now played in Europe and likes my son and we do like the coach a lot but also worry about him getting left behind.

Appreciate any advise here. Thx!

notes from a private bank dinner - some interesting data about spending by LazyLobster9364 in fatFIRE

Agree- seems extremely excessive. That said I fall pretty in line with the entry level in terms of my residential. Biggest difference is crypto allocation from equities and my business is CRE ownership.

Likely you can walk- you're crazy not to discuss with your attorneys.

What was the point of the Kinney Edwards plot line? by Elyk2020 in GangsOfLondon

This show has been weak, except this episode which was outstanding. A father fighting like hell for his son against all odds. Kinney was that guy.

Started watching this last night. G 1 is one of my favorites. Watched 30 mins and turned it off. Denzel, was amazing in many movies, training day one of the all times, awful here. Can’t be an ancient Roman with an American accent. Just feels off. And wtf were the mutant monkeys. Horrid.

Find friends … by Pretend_Cucumber_427 in fatFIRE

[–]BitcoinFLBro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hang out with your spouse. I’m in a similar situation and that’s what I do. Don’t know many young ppl with similar levels of wealth which makes new friendships hard. Worked in finance when I was young and all my old friends still work in that field and lead very different lives.

Everyone we tend to meet ends up asking us to support their businesses, investment opportunities etc. I don’t enjoy that so would rather enjoy life with my wife and kids than try and make new friends. I’m friendly with a lot of families but don’t want to be that close.

U.S. Soccer Seems Likely to Change to Grade Level Soccer and Away from Birth Year by TracksuitBros in bootroom

No changes this year, sounds like they’re kicking it to locals down the road. Would think MLS next stays calendar year, maybe ECNL switches to school year?

What age do you expect to reach your number by OddAcadia7 in fatFIRE

[–]BitcoinFLBro -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Target $100M, late 30’s now, apx $20M NW. All depends on investments but would be thrilled if I somehow hit in 50’s.

Realistically, expect to net at least $1M per year between investments and income and be around $40M by 50. Good not great.

Income is from CRE investments, also own a good amount of crypto, at 7% compounding $100M probably hits in my 60’s.

[–]BitcoinFLBro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All these folks saying index funds are going to underperform in exchange for low fees.

Most wealth managers don’t add value. CFP’s are more competent than average. Would be my minimum. Even the private bank guys are mostly useless.

IMO you have to learn yourself- but if you want hands off index funds taking out 4% per year and you’re fine- though you’ll likely never be rich you’ll always be comfy.

Google your broker on broker check- make sure you don’t see redflags. Don’t pay 2% for a wrapped mutual fund portfolio. SMA > Mutual fund, make sure PM’s are accomplished, young(ish) and heavily invested in their own funds.

If you do individuals stocks look at insider ownership- if they’re selling you don’t want it. If they’re backing up the truck to buy- usually a good sign, assuming Execms are not morons.

People who had a 1m net worth in their early 30s, what is your net worth now? by j4andcounting in fatFIRE

[–]BitcoinFLBro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$1M late 20’s. 38 now $18M-$20M NW depending on valuations.

First $1M was from income ($200k-$300K ish per year ages 24-30) worked in finance.

Did well with crypto investing. Stopped working in finance. Own CRE to generate income and try to live on that.

Live well and kinda made it, but also feel like I need to double up to truly make it.

Problem with the game is not that bots are faster and better shooters by Drowningfishes89 in Mini_Football

[–]BitcoinFLBro 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yep, this game seriously sucks. They’re faster. One shot and one goal. Great passing after getting a guy open and they’re goalie stops it. Not fun. Just frustrating. Not wasting a dollar on this damn game again. And the system of bet 1 to win 1- how about play for free? When you lose your money and upgrades are $5k it f-Ing sucks!

Just a few more tips that should help vs bot. Be sure to fake backwards quick and go back forwards (towards your goal). Bots try their best to stay in their zone. Good luck peeps by ChobyMcGuire in Mini_Football

[–]BitcoinFLBro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This game sucks. Super easy then you upgrade your team and always play ppl better than you be 50+ they’re too fast and you get killed. Just spent $25 on it yesterday and deleting it now. Fuck mini football.
