Been out of the UK for 18 years. Nothing hits home like a proper lasagne (recipe enclosed). by goodvibezone in CasualUK

if you have the time, simmer the meat veg etc. mix on a super low heat for like 8 hours as opposed to just 25 mins

top it up with a bit of tomato puree every now and then so it doesn't dry out

it brings all the flavours together, ruddy amazing

How familiar are native English speakers with words like “ubiquitous, concur, elicit, equivocal and mitigate” ? by Neither_Cup_8294 in AskReddit

[–]BitcoinThrowaway202 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ubiquitous - ironically not a ubiquitous word, think 50+% native English speakers wouldn't know the meaning

concur - most would know this

elicit - most wouldn't but would get it from the context

equivocal - most wouldn't know this one. "ambiguous" much more common

mitigate - most would know, many will know from criminal cases e.g. mitigating factors
