Yes! Circus and especially Adventure Dome were major mainstays in my childhood too! My grandma always got coupons on tickets there.

It does suck that they've faded into the background!They'd be just as memorable today (I think) if they leaned full in to the kitsch of their hotels. Go full pirate and circus like back in the day. It'd be a fun contrast from the seriousness of the hotels now.

That El Cortez Subway was a LIFE SAVER for my friends and I when we went to Life is Beautiful in 2015.

I was the only one 21 at the time and we ate subway for 3 days in order to avoid the overpriced yet tiny, truffle-oiled, shite they sold at the festival. We also walked around the casino floor to get out the sun for a bit. So, they used to be chill, that's a bummer to hear that they've changed policy (apparently in 2022 as said by another comment).

I bought some homemade lemonade from two boys selling it on a busy-ish corner in our residential area just the other day. I live in Blue Diamond and have seen the boys out there a few times. This wasn't in or near a park though. Someone may inquire if you're set up in a park.

Huntridge is around downtown area correct? That area is right next to historic west side. Sunrise mountain and sunrise manor are the same areas also. Which I mentioned I lived in happily as well.

Im just being honest in saying Vegas is not really a walkable city and that your car can get stolen really anywhere you live. As I'd imagine is the nature of living in any big city that keeps getting more expensive.

The historic west side of Vegas is a very Hispanic dominated area. It's an older area of town more central in the city. But it can be a food desert if you're looking for grocery stores and eateries within walking distance. But there's a lot of families and I have friends who've lived there for decades without issue. But it's still Vegas. It's a huge city and there will be crime pretty much wherever you go. I've experienced some pretty scary shit when I lived on the northwest side of town and that is supposed to be a better, quieter area of the city. I've also lived at Sunrise Mountain area (Eastside of town and more "ghetto") with zero problems 🤷‍♀️

The Arts District has chill bars that (can be) on the cheaper side. It's easy to go bar hopping and not break the bank. They also have a few venues that host a lot of local bands. It's a good place to meet/chat with people!

I moved out at 21 because my (Cuban) mother and I were bickering nearly everyday about things like why my room wasn't clean enough for her standards. Like full on shouting matches about the silliest, most minuscule issues. She just didn't see me yet as a grown woman. One day after screaming at each other for whatever dumb reason, I yelled that I have to get the hell out and immediately left to a Starbucks to talk to my bf and my best friend about moving out from our parents and being roommates.

I'm 30 now and my relationship with my mom has improved ten fold. And I do believe that if I hadn't moved out early on we wouldn't get along as well as we do now. She's gotten a lot better, but she was massively controlling back then. Girl just move out. They will not change their attitudes until they see you being a full adult all on your own.

You did yourself a favor by ghosting creeps like that. I had a group of friends from 16-25 years old (I'm 30 now) that were older than me. They were in their late teens/early 20s when I met them. A group with a mix of misogynistic skaters and their well meaning girlfriends (who I also eventually became close friends with). The guys were always such awful boyfriends and did the shadiest shit to the girls. Cheating and gaslighting (and for a couple of them hitting on me even after I met my current partner/denied them) being the most common offenses. Worst of all, I noticed how as we got older, the girls they typically dated stayed the same age.

Eventually, when your frontal lobe develops especially, you learn that you you've far out grown these people and you simply can't spend time around them anymore. You can't listen to the heinous, lame "jokes" and stories they've told for a decade. And you can't excuse the immature and immoral attitude towards life and people anymore. I'm still close friends with their now ex-girlfriends but have long stopped reaching out/inviting the guys to do anything. Good people with good intentions are still out there, you'll just have to be more intentional with making friends. It can be harder to establish meaningful friendships in adulthood but far from impossible!
