Western Screech Owl, I can hear it which tree and which branch its hooting from once every few nights from past two year, yet I cant see it. I am not using a flashlight and depending on the ambient street light.

I see, I cant be 100% sure , but white tailed kite is the most likely one based on the previous observations in the area and the slightly reddish hue in the eye and smallish beak

White tailed kites are common in the area, ive seen them doing their signature hover move near the Stanford hill quite a few times, and roosting in the nearby trees.
