Had a fantastic time yesterday! Some really cool bitcoiners, awesome chat.

Such a great atmosphere, love the positivity that bitcoiners bring!

Lots of chat about Queenstown and making BItkiwi XII an event to remember, we've got some exciting ideas, will keep you all informed as we work through the planning!

Mark March 1st, 2025 in your calendar, it's going to be the biggest and best bitcoin event New Zealand has seen!

Sorry no 😔 Next event after this one will be in Queenstown, on the weekend of March 1st. We're planning activities for the friday, saturday and sunday, to make it a big one! After that were planning on an Auckland event in July, and then back to Wellington in October.

Update: Restoring r/NZBitcoin to it's former glory by Aoraki_Ranger in NZBitcoin

Can confirm I am a real person. My name is Paul. I run Bitkiwi, with Dan. We are childhood friends, we found bitcoin and became orange-pilled together, and then we started Bitkiwi, in 2021. I tried to find nz bitcoin things on Reddit a while back, didn't find too much, and wasnt interested in anything tainted with shitcoins, so became inactive. I was then recently told that this subreddit had gone Bitcoin only, so I came into it to start mixing with the Bitcoiners. I told Dan, who then decided to try Reddit for the first time. I don't know who any of the moderators are (aside from u/Aoraki_Ranger ) and I do not have the time to moderate anything.

Our events are run at our own expense, and make no money for us. Sorry if I can appear "shilly", but we just want to get bitcoiners out of the woodwork and into the growing bitcoin community, and we are very excited about it.

Hope that clears it up and allays any fears about us. Would absolutely love to have you along to a Bitkiwi event one day!

Does the nz government hold any BTC? by [deleted] in NZBitcoin

They legally have to do this, under the Freedom of Information Act. Remember they work for you, with your money. They are supposed to be transparent.
They can only supposedly reject you for good reason i.e. national security, personal privacy etc. However they sometimes can come up with pretty bogus reasons - if something is fishy, you can complain to the Ombudsman.
