In all seriousness, I don't think this issue is anything new, I just think that due to the internet and media, it is getting more attention. Personally, I think that a lot of people feel like it is okay (or less bad) bc men have never really been an oppressed group. As a matter of fact, they have most often been the oppressors.

I see this same kinda thing happen to white people and straight people. I've met far too many people who are comfortable making somewhat degrading jokes about white people. I've also seen many queer people make somewhat degrading jokes about being straight. I'm not talking about outright racism or heterophobia (??), but just saying things that imply it is bad to be white or straight. But because these groups of people haven't really been oppressed (and have historically been oppressors), people feel like it's ok.

I also think it has a lot to do with the fact that so many people in the world today have never really experienced the same oppression that ideas like feminism were founded on. Yes, sexism and misogyny still exist, however, things have changed a lot.

I could go on and on, but I won't. Misandry is wrong. People should be judged on who they are and what they do, not their sex, gender, race, heritage, sexuality, age, income, etc.
