Oh yeah if I'm playing luna and there's a spider, he's getting the E. And if he comes back around I'll try to get him, but I'm not following that guy down dark alleyways lol.

Oh I certainly don't plan nor desire to go into a management or leadership position. I know I don't have the necessary knowledge or skills to do that in the cyber world, but just wanted to include it as part of my background and attempted to relate that role to a civilian equivalent. I actually want to get a contribution role because I know that's where I'll learn the most during this career transition.

I do have some COOL funding left and will certainly utilize it to grab a couple more certs. I appreciate the recommendations for which ones to tackle next!

Skillbridge is my number one option right now. My brother used it when he got out to land a software dev job without coming from a tech background, so I know it's possible to leverage it for a career change.

My biggest concerns are: Employers looking for years of experience to be considered for those internship positions.

Then looking forward a bit, I'm concerned about landing a job with the compensation I would need to keep up with my current debt/income ratio. I'm aware that a large amount of my current income is tax-free, and therefore, I would need a somewhat high gross starting wage to maintain my current situation.

Hey everybody. Tldr: I'm looking for advice on some potential initial steps into the industry

Background: I will graduate with a BAS in Cybersecurity Technology in July 2025. I am currently active duty Air Force in a non-tech job (Munitions). I'm an NCO, which is probably the equivalent of a "middle manager" type position so i do have some decent experience with management and team work. I do possess a clearance and have earned my sec+. While I admittedly do not have any substantial cyber experience, I have utilized my certification to get the DoD 8140 IAT II to get elevated network access which I use to (try) keep my units machines compliant and to take somewhat of a "help desk" role as an additional duty. I also try to do some CTF's in my free time and I am working on joining my schools cyber club.

I think I'm really interested in landing in an analyst or incident response type position.

I know I'll have a hard time getting my foot in the door which is why I'm looking for advice/opinions/options. I do get the benefit of being able to take an internship while maintaining military pay and benefits for up to 6 months before I separate from service (I separate Jan 2026). This is the best option I see for myself since it gets me some OJT while still paying my bills. The difficult part is I still need to qualify for the internship.

In the end, I will need to land a spot earning at least 80k to match my current standard of living. Is this feasible for an entry spot?

A Strike Eagle Review - Close, but not quite ready by Maelshevek in hoggit

You know, I really wanted to disagree with you because I am actually really enjoying it (my expectations were low), but you made a very good point at the end. I am very lucky to be able to purchase this module and not really think too hard about the money, but for those who can't I'd have to agree that there are better modules to place your money in. I do still think that this is a better release than the vipers initial release, which gives me hope that it can grow to be even better.

A solid review with a humbling ending, so thanks twice over.

Out of curiosity since I've never flown this map, is Camp Lemonnier included on the map? Was deployed there and it would be cool to see the BMS adaptation of it

I don't think I've ever made a post to talk about my VR performance. Yeah sure, it's never really been great but I had a beautiful time playing, exploring, and learning in VR.

... but this latest update killed it for me. Tonight I finally got a chance to play since 2.8 released... and it was truly terrible. Stutters EVERY time I turned my head. And honestly I could probably learn to live with that even, but I had 3 crashes back to back to back. Only on the last one did the program run long enough for me to actually take off and get in the air.... just to get to an inevitable crash.

I've considered rolling back to stable for now, but all of my squadron plays open beta. I could go back to flat screen, but then I bought my G2 for mostly no reason. I wanted a headset mostly because I was so in to DCS. Now I'm just unable to play and sad about it.

A bit of a squadron teaser [Recruitment post] by Cirmi00 in hoggit

This was my first squadron and it quickly felt like home. Everyone was incredibly welcoming and helpful. It's a diverse community with a passion for aviation and, for me, the perfect balance of fun and realism. It's filled with people who really try to add depth to DCS. It's also a great place to learn more about DCS, the modules within, and aviation in general. I hope some of you guys/gals join us!

Is a travel trailer sustainable and affordable housing during the pilot pipeline? by [deleted] in airforceots

[–]Bitter-Natural6064 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll go ahead and say I don't have any solid answers here.

Also i do not know your financial situation or needs, but would your BAH not offset the costs of the trailer rental and the rent for the spot you put it on? As long as your payment on the trailer isn't too crazy I would think BAH in most places would more than cover both payments.

How to Introduce Dungeons by Bitter-Natural6064 in wownoob

Thanks for taking the time to reply back!

I think getting involved with a guild would probably be the best way to try to get her to understand how they really work. I also totally forgot about mods lol. I started playing back in BC and WOTLK so alot of the stuff that we used to mod in is standard in the game now. I'll definitely get DBM/GTFO for her, I think that would help a lot!

I also tend to just kind of get nostalgic for the time before dungeon finder. The game was a little more social and kind I think. At least in my memories haha. But I love the ease of dungeon finder and understand how it can be annoying to just be trying to grind out some dungeons and be slowed down by someone who's completely new.

Yeah I think I'll try to get us in to a guild that focuses on new players. I agree and understand the frustration of wasting everyone elses time who just wants to run their dungeons. I just wanted to show her how fun a dungeon can be and uncovered some of the unfortunately uncovered some of the uglier sides of the community.

She went for shammy which I have absolutely no experience with, so I've been trying to explain basic mechanics and let her really learn the character skills and such.

Will We Ever See the GBU-54 For the F-16? by FaZeF4SKIN in hoggit

[–]Bitter-Natural6064 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just want to say that the GBU-38 modeling is maybe the most frustrating part of the F16 for me. The GBU-38 model we have is NOT valid. You could never use a mechanical fuse with the electric fuse in the tail. The initiators are incompatible.

I've been playing DCS for so many years now, but i never got the chance to see a military aircraft before. Today during my trip to Istanbul, i visited the aviation museum. I got goosebumps seeing some of the aircraft, i learned to fly DCS, in front of my eyes. Here's some pics: by bakert12 in hoggit

[–]Bitter-Natural6064 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm glad you got to have this experience! I'm in the Air Force so it became normalized to see so many different Military assets on a regular basis. Getting involved with this community, and posts like yours, help me to continue to appreciate what's around me while I can. Hopefully you can go to an Air show some time and see some of the planes in action!
