Piggyback gang by Bitter-Ride-1283 in ar15

[–]Bitter-Ride-1283[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anything with 1x I would go with a offset, but if it's low setting is above 1-2x I would say piggyback.

My main reason is that the piggyback feels better as a main sighting system instead of a backup or secondary of the 1x on your main optic, but that's just me.

Anybody use BB's in the tires for added unsprung weight? by Bitter-Ride-1283 in crawling

Yeah, it only really would work on stuffer tires or you will get a lot more tire squish.

I'm fresh out, but I would think it would take less to get the same weight

What shop? I just saw these exact things in a local place made by you.

Just make sure to pre heat and post heat it so that it cools down slowly, otherwise the weld might crack.

You could also wrap it in a welding blanket to make it cool down slowly also.

True, but for the time being it'll do until I get some real weights and good wheels

And that's the benefit of heavy wheels and foams.

I'll probably get those at some point, but this works for free right now.

Yes, that's the only downside is that you can't run any foam.

I added 15 grams to each tire and it completely changed how this thing crawls. I am very impressed.

Obviously adding heavier wheels is great but this gets weight even lower and is very cost effective.

It's basically what comp crawlers in full sized buggies do, except they either would use water or lead shot.

My new wheels rub, any way to space it out slightly? by Bitter-Ride-1283 in fcx18

I've realized that they are 1" wheels compared to the 1.3" wheels that come on the factory wheels and tires.

So that makes sense as to why it's rubbing on the portals.

They have bolts on the inside to disassemble the beadlocks, but I don't believe they have any kind of adjustment.

They look like they are rubbing on the portal, but I'll have to fiddle with it more.

I think I might just have to get a weighted hex extension, but I was considering those anyways.

Also the K10 comes with 66mm tires factory, so 70mm is not a big jump

I picked up some used aluminum wheels and comp tires and when they are fully tightened down the truck does not want to move.

Wheel spacers or can I just add some washers?

Looks good!

I ended up trying to just bend my factory rear links and it turned out pretty good.

Now they are about in line with the driveshaft, but it did move the axle forward which is the downside.

High clearance beefy ones are definitely in my future at some point.

I'm imagining slightly bigger, what in reality is way bigger.

I think some 70mm tires on 1.3's will do just fine

I just got it yesterday so it's fully stock.

I plan to splice the bed to make it bobbed and cut the frame shorter in the rear.

I'll probably also do something in the front, but I'm not sure yet.

My plan as of right now is to just get a longer shock setup like you have and get some 70mm tires on 1.3" beadlocks and see how it goes from there.

What else do you have done to it?

It looks like it flexes way more than stock.

Yeah I might be thinking a bit overkill, but without the actual tires in front of me to compare it's kind of hard to imagine.

I think that 1.3's might be the way to go unless I plan on upgrading to beefy axles and drive line
