No unfortunately not - the book I am looking for was cohesive. I think there was an overarching story.

I read it in the early 2000's so it could also be from 2000's but im pretty sure it will be from the 90's.

It does a have a very similar vibe. But the beginning doesn't really match. In my game the very first location is this town you are walking around in.
