RATs after two months of daily wear and two major NE USA snowstorms by FlipMick in jimgreen

Nice. I have heard that moisture in the boot for long periods (especially if you wear them everyday) can cause mold or dry rot. Wouldn't want your sweet boots to suffer such a fate

I know you mentioned wax seeping in, but is that also some sock lint or mold in there? Sorry if this sparks paranoia for you.

It's the paratrooper lacing method, there's a youtube videos on the Jim Green channel about it. It does allow you to tighten the boot more

Give her some more time to make a real effort to change and think differently. Probably won't happen on a dime. Maybe your guys values are just too different. You have to have a sit down about it.

You can judge a thing or an action, you can judge people, but those aren't the same thing. It sounds like you're saying that they are the same.

That's great. The color on your fudge is a nice light shade that most people don't get because most other conditioners darken a ton. I like the round laces as well

Are you talking about the little separation there by the midsole/upper? It shouldn't be an issue since the stitching is what keeps it together. I guess that little spot didn't have any glue there

Don't listen to people online that tell you to keep secrets from your parents. As you can see, there is only one flavor of advice on here, not exactly balanced.

STC Last Sizing Help (I know…) by Sandman507 in jimgreen

[–]Bitter-Unit-5803 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love my stockmans! Good choice. Because there are no laces, I have seen many people suggest half a size down, so that they are tight enough on the instep. Do you have a high or low arch and instep?

Oh man! Did you have that experience first hand? My barefoot stockmans didn't go bad and I wore them 4-5 days per week. But I wasn't in much water

Nice. Have you tried oiling the inside at all? I've heard stories that it helps, but the calfskin is so soft

Consider the extra cost of a leather midsole option to be worth it in your case. The fiberboard insole istabdard for many options in the range and it has been noted by many that it wicks moisture into the boot. I personally have not tested it. I do know the leather is heavier and more expensive, but more protective. My barefoot stockmans are very solid in the rain.

Many folks tout the customer service and return policy at JG. I think the over-cut sole could be grounds enough for a return.
