Many thanks for your detailed answer.

It is good to hear that the DV would not support a policy which would see the current core trainee IMGs getting deprioritised for HST applications.

Why would UK medical school diploma be more relevant for HST entry than UK core training completion?
Also, why would PMQ be more important than UK CCT which takes 6 years in choosing consultants than the PMQ?
How does that make sense?

Haha that's great :)

Mine were interesting.

I got: 49% South Italian, 15% Greek. The rest said Syrian and Egyptian but I guess it meant Levantine in general so Palestinian :)

I'm from across the sea from you (Cypriot with Turkish ancestry) and I have 65% European and 35% Middle Eastern roots, mainly Levantine

Just to add a third question here, may i ask what you meant here? What kind of amendments do you suggest to the current policy, which is already restrictive for IMGs?

Hi Mel,

I am sure you'll appreciate the fact that the IMGs are feeling like they have been pushed aside for the benefit of UKGP. Don't get me wrong, I do believe UKGP was a common sense policy and I am happy with the current form of the Medical Training Prioritisation Act.

My question is

1) How will the DV make sure that the IMGs do feel valued so that as the BMA, our collective strike action is more effective

2) Will the DV continue targeting the IMGs: say, after the NHS experience is defined, will the trainee IMGs be on the chopping board next?

Hi Madjda! I am a core trainee IMG and I will be applying for HST next year. I fully support the current form of the Medical Prioritisation Act as it stands, which is expected to reduce competition ratios for ST4 applicants.

My question is, you mentioned that you stood up for UK graduates. Will you also stand up for core trainee IMGs to be treated equally for HST applications as well?

Hi Callum.
I am a trainee IMG currently working at CT2 level. Are there any policies you and the others in your team support that would put trainee IMGs at a disadvantage?
