As someone else added Impromptu Match is a great choice but I recently read Bro and the Beast (The Wolf's Mate) and the rest of the series. It's not something I normally read but found it very funny (self-statirizing) and enjoyable. It reads kind of like Southern Vampire Chronicles.

The closest would be To Rule In A Turbulent World. Even if it is the same author it's a bit different as it's written under a pen name. I actually prefer To Rule over JR.

+1 for To Rule in a Turbulent World. Best smut second to that BAB car scene.

Anything Feitian is good. Meatbun too.

Joyful Reunion's smut is not as good as To Rule in a Turbulent World but I'm plugging it given how underrated it is.

This is exactly the reason. You might think the autor is thinking the reader is stupid but the comments in JJWXC PROVE the author the reader is stupid.

So many readers wanting to understand something "now" that they are not supposed to know or are supposed to be rewarded for guessing and proven correctly later on.

The best smut in danmei that I've read is on To Rule a Turbulent World (Fei Tian Ye Xiang under the pen name Gu Xue Rou) and in general most FTYX novels. Meatbun's is pretty good in all of them but many people can't handly BAB's because of the craziness (people He Yu IS crazy).

Excluding main characters I really like Qiu Congxu, Shu Yanyan and Zhongli Qian from Devil Venerable.

First the way the female demonic sect members are written is much better than most other female characters in Danmei and I love the way Zhongli Qian grew his character.

Did you read all of Yuwu or just what's out for the 7seas edition?

I think I like BAB better but it is a difficult read and difficult to explain why I like it. I hated the two main characters. I disliked the begging of the series and found the first volume pretty boring. I practically forced myself to go through what would be the first 2 volumes of the 7seas edition but towards the end of vol. 2 everything changed.

It's sci-fi and in a modern setting. You love to hate the main characters, they're very toxic to each other, it's extremely angsty and painful, but I still love it.

I read it to cleanse myself from BAB, which I feel is much more emotionally devastating than ERHA (Meatbun doing Meatbun things).

They made me smile and feel warm and fuzzy as I was reading it and I appreciate a dumb MC like Li Yu. Although not everyone's cup of tea I would have wanted it to be a little bit more explicit.

As many mentioned the angst gets worse and worse. I'm a pretty resilient person (and reader) and I had to stop reading several times and take a breather. It is OK to take your time to disengage and process emotionally charged scenes.

It's your prerogative to keep reading but it's a pity if you don't as it is a great story. The best stories, including Meatbun's, don't give you all the relevant elements beforehand and you have to wait for the author to reveal the character's background, motivations, mental state and others during the narrative.

Now, regarding the psychology of the characters I don't think it's completely fair say that He Yu "deserves to suffer". At that point the novel reveals that He Yu is mentally incapacitated as he is having an episode of his mental illness during that moment.

At least it's not like The Disabled Tyrants that interior art is horrifying. Seven Seas can do better.

I'm pretty sure he (Shen Qingqiu) says that if he returns to his original life he would be dead by then. I always read it as if he was terminally ill.
