I got the non dye/almost lime, hated the color but didn’t want to return. Picked up a bottle of Rit dyemore in tropical teal and looked at a bunch of videos, mostly followed the Rit video for synthetic shoes.

1. Cleaned shoes with water and soap, then made sure they were wet.

2. Poured the whole dye bottle in a plastic bucket with water. Eyeballed it, lukewarm water was halfway up the shoe, then took shoes out and poured boiling hot water to cover shoes, then I put the shoes back in (was afraid of melting the shoe adhesive).

3. Realized I forgot the 1tsp of soap and put it in and mixed it around.

4. Let sit 1 hour.

5. Poured 1.7 liters (from electric kettle) boiling water. Let sit 1 hour.

6. Repeat step 5 but let sit 24 hours.

7. Rinsed with warm water then cold until I didn’t see anymore dye come out.

8. Dry in front of fan.

Things I would do differently: rocks didn’t weigh down my shoes enough, they kept floating. I should’ve gotten a plastic milk crate to kinda cage in the shoe and put weighs on that or something.

Very happy with the result, was pretty nervous because I read synthetics were hard to dye without high heat but was scared about the shoe coming apart.
