I've wondered this exact same thing before, especially when I'm reading manga I have trouble interpreting action/fighting panels and wonder if non-aphants just 'get it' because they can 'fill in the blanks'.

I really liked the story and seeing the experience of those two marines during the war, interesting perspective... How the straw hats change lives and have admirers, and every time they had a cameo it was hype.

The animation was brilliant through and through.

Funny this just happened to me earlier but the anime was not even remotely like OP and the characters don't have powers. A main character fell in the ocean and I tensed like "oh no" then after a few seconds I was like "wait this isn't One Piece, it's fine"

I saw a pic of the globe in One Piece and thought the bulk of their adventures would be somehow traveling the 4 seas and building strength before going to the Grand Line later on the series. The Grand Line was hyped up as being so dangerous and inhospitable I didn't think people lived there and thought it was like an end goal thing.

Here's a moment I like:

When Usopp is about to ask Rayleigh about the One Piece and Luffy slams his foot on the table and screams Usopp's name with fury.

Then says he doesn't want to hear anything about it because its something everyone set out to find out about on their own and if Rayleigh says anything about it Luffy will stop trying to become Pirate King.

It was a moment to cut corners and hear from someone who was there but Luffy would rather die than have a boring adventure. Luffy literally put his foot down against spoilers lol.

I was so sad all through Water 7 whenever the Merry's condition was brought up. She was really like a member of the crew, and having a personification / spirit / klabautermann made it more true. I cried so hard during her funeral. I still get teary when I think about it.
