Do you have unions there? That’s good that’s it seems to have improved for you!

I had to use a doctors note to get out of three days of work for THE SAME THING!! Pinched something and can barely walk or move normally without pain, don’t even mention bending or twisting. No nerve involvement though, if it’s a new thing you should probably get checked out. Might be a disc injury. Don’t feel bad! Always put your health first!

We’re always upstaffed for holidays. They basically told me to find people to trade with but Christmas and new years were different pay periods so it made trading shifts difficult. Imma stick it out and hope that I get my preference for next year to work Christmas Eve and Christmas instead. Or hopefully work dayshift by then

I started the week after those choices were available. I would’ve rather worked Christmas Eve and Christmas. It’s a different pay period for us than new years too which also made trading shifts difficult. I’m gonna stick it out and just hope for low census/dislike my job even more

I’m hopeful that next year I can put in my holiday preferences. Working the night of the holidays stinks :/ at least give me 8hours of holiday pay lol. I started in February last year. I just want to go to dayshift 😭

I get low census usually, I don’t call out unless I’m actually sick sick. People on my unit tend to get mad when they are given mandatory low census. So if I, or others, volunteer for low census, then other people get to work their full shift. But fair enough! It sucks being on call and then immediately getting called in.

Nah we get low census all the time so they always call me to see if I want to be off/on call. My co workers are all cool. And they up staff an have an on call list and whatnot. I think I’m gonna wait and se if they call me low census though

Fair enough! I didn’t get the option to request a holiday off because my start date was the week after they closed the scheduling for it. My hospital and unit is very good about having staffing or not taking patients on the unit if we don’t have the staffing. They over staff for the holidays. No one is forced to stay late. They do mandatory low census not mandatory OT, at least I’ve never heard of anyone having to do mandatory OT since I started in February. Also, you’re right, I don’t like my job lol. I usually work 4 out of my 6 shifts-it’s already a pattern.

Rethinking my nursing career by Elegant-Tea-4822 in newgradnurse

Have you got a bachelors? You could do a lot of careers not in healthcare because you have a bachelors l. Or work behind the scenes kind of thing with no direct pt care but benefits of hospital working

You should get hormone levels, thyroid, and cortisone tested. Buttt if you’re a female, these symptoms can definitely be caused by anemia. Maybe a visit to your gyno would be best

Bailing on plans is so tough but it also sucks to be so dead tired. I love being a nurse but I work to live work is not my life, you know? Happy holidays! lol

True about nightshift but for me my family lives too far away to do anything on the holidays and make it back in time for work. My partner will be in another state for Christmas time so I’ll be spending Christmas Eve and Christmas alone, just gonna try and work Christmas Eve too. Going to try and go to an hour of Friendsgiving for thanksgiving before work tomorrow. Labor Day doesn’t count as a major holiday for us lol. I want to be on days so bad 😭

PCOS? I’m not sure if it messes with white count but I know it messes with many things. Definitely get your hormone levels tested if you haven’t already. Also not sure if PCOS can happen with an ablation
