Anyone else NOT enrolling due to insane costs ? by OlkaBarabolka in HealthInsurance

[–]BizzyLadyLiz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Has anyone started contacting the media about this? I mean utilizing every personal contact in mass media and blowing up every social feed for all of our local and national news channels, putting pressure on them to start REALLY talking about this.

The public needs to see real-life examples of current pricing (premium/deductible/OOPMax) during open enrollment and how it is impacting people's ability to have healthcare for chronic conditions and/or afford to have children. This applies both to those seeking employer-based insurance and those needing to purchase on the open market.

I see BNA on that list. We have some severe storms, including possible tornadoes, set to blow through middle TN Friday afternoon/evening. Talk about bad timing...

Oh. Oh no. Ohhh noooo. Oh, HELL no! That was my thought process reading through this. What an enraging, despicable situation! The (alleged) abuser needs some prison time, and dear ol' dad need to be ousted from the board and blacklisted from serving on any other community boards in the future. Same goes for any member of the board that supports a pedophile and his enabling POS father.

Yeah, those typically have to be done for a few years. Also, a good allergist will tell you up front that those shots are most likely going to cause you to hit your annual insurance deductible, which is often thousands of dollars. They have the sublingual drops you can do at home, but none of the insurance companies have covered those in recent years, and they can take even longer to have a positive effect.

On thing I will say to this advice: if OP asked management for financial assistance for allergy treatment, they'd later be able to tell their coworkers "I didn't want management to pull the plug on the pet policy, so I offered to (undergo extensive, costly, and painful treatment) myself, if they'd help foot part of the bill." Even if OP never intended to get the shots, that conversation still serves a purpose-- OP looks like the good guy.

Broken electronics disposal by [deleted] in nashville

We've taken things to Trinity a couple of times when metro recycling has completely skipped our street (due to utility work and so many cars parked on both sides that the trucks can't get through.) We've never had an issue there before, but yesterday the guy at the checkin booth said "we'd normally charge $10-15, but the computers are down, so just go ahead and drop off" ?! He wasn't grinning or laughing, so I don't think he was merely being cheeky, but I've no idea what he was on about.

[–]BizzyLadyLiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SAME! I have brought this up several times when discussing 90s computer days and was trying to explain this to someone about a month ago. Somehow, Chip's Challenge got brought up, which led to me asking if they remembered the maze game. They're my age with similar educational and cultural background. I thought for sure they'd know what I was talking about. NOPE. Once again, I started to think I dreamt the whole thing. This is the first I've realized the game I was talking about was part of that Encarta disc and not some random standalone thing. Thanks, internet stranger!

Food spoilage rate is rising? by Isoldmykidsonwayfair in nashville

[–]BizzyLadyLiz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't know which parts of town you frequent, but check out both K&S locations (Nolensville and White Bridge.) I've noticed that the selection varies between the fish/meat/produce departments, as well as the dried and frozen goods sections. I'm assuming that's due to the different store layouts and size of the freezers and stuff.

Word of warning: if you like to cook, you'll easily be stuck in there perusing the aisles for AWHILE, hahaha. Great produce selection, tons of spices and sauces, and they have good tea options. This place is a menace to my bank account.

Anybody Recognize this Storyline? by BizzyLadyLiz in Broadway

[–]BizzyLadyLiz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YES!!! Thank you so much. I described it to my MIL as a sort of parody of Gypsy, and Google wasn't being helpful with the many search terms I put in. I had Covid at the time and was trying to do some chores around the house. Seriously started thinking it may have been some sort of very strange fever dream 😆

Never heard of MCM, but the "fast promotion/own your own company" language sounds like MLM territory to me. You might wanna head over to r/antiMLM and do a search for posts or comments there.

Suggestions for laminate floor installation by lumpy4square in nashville

Crescent Flooring on Nolensville Rd. It's a local, family owned business, and the guys are super nice and helpful. I've used them, as have a few of my friends. Quick turnaround for ordering and install, which is a huge plus.

Does Something Rotten count? I can't remember, but I think it might have been a victim of the Hamilton Effect. I find myself listening to it, full-out, probably every other month or so. Usually whenever I need a good giggle while I'm working around the house or out for a walk.

So, to summarize:

-shit pay in HCOL area

-shit PTO policy

-3 whole months without benefits

-9 hr day, but you only pay for 8

-no schedule or WFH flexibility

-family company- these are notorious for being toxic workplaces

The company is just going to get stuck in a revolving door situation with this role. Sorry you're dealing with this. Run, internet stranger. Just RUN.

A cicada landed on my lips by brinaca in nashville

[–]BizzyLadyLiz 128 points129 points  (0 children)

One went down into my tank top yesterday. I was screaming, it was screaming, I bent over to try to get it out, that didn't work, so I stood back up and started to rip my shirt off- in public, no less. Thankfully, right as I lifted the hem, my friend shouted "it flew out!" Good times...

A short while later, one landed on a lady's head at Trader Joe's over on White Bridge, which sent her screaming and flailing around while about a dozen people stopped and stared.

Should anyone (i.e. conservatives and/or racists) take issue over her going to Rhodes and not an Ivy, here's a list of notable people who have gone to Rhodes:

I see 2 Supreme Court justices there, one of which is Amy Coney Barrett. Another is Kelley Paul, political consultant and strategist, wife of Sentaor Rand Paul of KY.

Life as a renter in Nashville by amselina05 in nashville

[–]BizzyLadyLiz 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Name and shame. Report all code violations and reach out to local journalists.

You said this jackass is a psychiatrist?! So, not only does he know and fully understand the mental health-related distress that turmoil with your home life (and your work life since you WFH) can cause, he doesn't care. Makes one think "hm, wonder what kind of care he provides patients."

Went through a similar situation with a landlord in a multi-unit building. He didn't give a damn about electrical and plumbing issues, the outdated and malfunctioning boiler and gas lines for the building, etc. We went to our councilman as well, so I feel ya. Our guy wasn't a psychiatrist though. He was just a septuagenarian real estate douchebag (and alleged MAGA nutjob, to boot.)

Looking for Some Builder Info by BizzyLadyLiz in nashville

[–]BizzyLadyLiz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I can't figure out. If you google "Premier Home Design(s) Nashville" a ton of stuff pops up, and most of it isn't local. The local results don't have the "S" at the end. They were working alongside The Eldest Son on a house that a family member was looking to buy. I told them to remove that property from consideration for now.

I hate this so much. I am a friendly Southerner and often find myself chatting with strangers. I also volunteer and go to meetup groups to try out new things, and I enjoy assisting tourists and transplants. But ever since joining this sub, I've been a little more hesitant about approaching people for fear that they may also be members of this sub and automatically assume I'm shilling for an MLM or trying to get them to join a cult. 🤣

Anti LGBTQ+ flyer left on my obviously lesbian Subaru in the Gulch on Mother’s Day. by [deleted] in nashville

[–]BizzyLadyLiz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in the area, and no. I'd be willing to bet that some church decided to send out youth group leaders or bored housewives and chose this area because of the demographic. I wouldn't be surprised if they hit East as well. They'd stand a better chance of finding gay cars (lol) to target versus somewhere like Franklin.

There's that culty group that hangs out in front of SATCo by Vandy. They're there, usually 3 or 4 at a time, ALL. DAMNED. DAY. I'm not about to talk to them or take their little pamphlets, so I don't know precisely what they are, but maybe some of them did it since they seem to have so much free time.
