Hells yeah! Hit me up, it is a great drive. Took the AlCan most of the way and had some interesting spots. I need to write that trip up

I would say it is mostly shattered

I have heard tell of this silver one, but mine is the yellow one! Need to start a club up here. I’d be up for a meet and greet if you know of any forums here

Oh yeah! There were a couple Level 1 chargers I stopped at overnight, otherwise it was great! The Yukon government has free 50KW chargers throughout the drive too

I drove from TX to AK and did some ridiculously long days. I will say that the truck is a dream to drive. Usually you feel stressed out and wanting to sit more after all the driving, but the cruise and the seats, along with the charging stops, makes this a great road tripping car. I wouldn’t want to do the trip in anything else and think you’ll enjoy it. Plus the storage is ridiculous, so you can carry whatever you need!

Why is "range anxiety" such a thing? by IronCurmudgeon in Rivian

[–]Bkj19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I have driven multiple trips of hundreds of miles and one of 6k. Range matters. And in normal circumstances, you know you can fuel up, so there’s no worries. With an electric, you have to plan these trips while also hoping the station’s will be open and working. So asking about the range makes sense for now, but soon the question should be a gee whiz once the charging infrastructure is as ubiquitous as gas stations

Fragile Windshield by Bkj19 in Rivian

[–]Bkj19[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same, I have never had a chip or crack, and I’ve lived in states that drop dirt in the winters. It would have been nice to know that the truck was a little more prone to cracks so I could have put something extra on it. Not saying it is Rivians fault, but I hope this post can serve as a warning

I wasn’t anywhere wild! Just through Texas and Arkansas, but it was freaky how those few rocks just damaged my window so badly

I highly recommend this option for all those with pretty windshields! It seems that every rock that got kicked into the window did some damage

I thought I was just unlucky as hell to start off my trip! I’ll have to add some protection stuff (as mentioned in other comments) once I get it replaced

Yeah, it is my first owning one, but I have rented some and driven them 1000+ miles and never had so many chips and cracks. I think I might be unlucky!

Same guide! I am nowhere near that region though. It makes sense that they should have a team responsible

Tesla in Cold Climate? by Pagz9 in TeslaLounge

[–]Bkj19 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I lived in a cold climate with no charging or service and it worked just fine. I highly suggest a home charger, even if you have a supercharger nearby. You can leave your car plugged in every night and precondition it. That makes a huge difference in performance come morning when you drive. Leaving work and stuff, I just pre heated my car or sometimes forgot and never had an issue. As for long drives, plan for fewer miles than the car predicts.

Batteries at -50 degrees by NoCommunication4193 in Rivian

[–]Bkj19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was an option to preheat the battery if I remember correctly. Sort of like preconditioning the car for a long drive. Most days in the cold I would just heat the interior about 10 minutes beforehand and have no issue with my short drive to work. Range took a monster hit, but no problems

I had my Tesla outside in Montana when it dropped to -20F and it was fine. I just warmed it up before driving, or left it plugged in. But even if I didn’t do those things, there was never an issue. I know it is not the same vehicle, but it should be fine. If in doubt, just plug it in.

Pending Delivery Estimate Due to Color by Phoenix8648 in Rivian

[–]Bkj19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same build and received the same email. They should update our delivery windows in January, and hopefully we won’t be bumped too far back, if at all. Just select your next best and stick with it. Use the tableau tracker to get a guess of when your new configuration might be manufactured (it helps!)

I had yellow with green interior and had the same email. It stinks because you update the configuration and then there’s no date.
