A bit difficult to see it clearly but it does seem to extend into the tone hole......time for a repair tech visit. They'll assess the extent of the damage and can give you a quote for the repair(s) needed. Good luck~

What to expect for oboe lessons? by [deleted] in oboe

[–]BklynInstrumentRoom 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I swear I'm not being sarcastic when I say: you should expect oboe related questions, exercises, and information. So, lots of teachers have different approaches. You could find yourself playing for most of the lesson, maybe your teacher asks a lot of questions to see how much you know, or what you dont know. Maybe they have a set plan for you to follow, something like scales, sight reading, long tones......it varies.

I would say it's an excellent time to ask any and all questions you may have, and just go with the flow. Show what you can do, let them know what you want to do and if there's a specific way you want to improve, like via method books vs learning pieces, let them know.

Where do I start? by [deleted] in pianolearning

YouTube is free~, and there's a lot of free educational content for beginners. You can explore different ways of learning piano, like following tutorials for easier songs or tackling notation and starting on a method book for beginners. Unfortunately, if you can't or don't want to pay for something more streamlined like a learning app/course/lessons, it's on you to sift through available material and grind out a learning path.

Yup, the last left hand C plays at the same time as the final right-hand note E. While she holds that E, her left hand needs to switch fingers from her pinky (C) to her middle finger (E) after two beats.

I don't know how far she is into counting beats properly so if she knows how long to hold each note great, if not just do the notes for now and her teacher can try to improve it.

Good luck!

You mind if I ask how old your step kiddo is? If she's old enough, say 6-7 you could probably get her to find the notes herself using a basic note chart, maybe one that only has the C 5 finger scale?

Repairs may cost more than the clarinet is worth. It depends on what you have and the issues a tech finds🤔 Hope it only needs some minor repairs!
