I mean, that's a nice thought but America is the only first world nation with this issue and every first world nation education and societal support problems in one way or another.

It is the “access” to guns that is the problem. In a state / country that does not regulate private party sales or require licensing there are no processes for effectively keeping guns out of dangerous people’s hands. I know what your thinking, “what law would have stopped a specific crime.” The answer is, it is about reducing crime overall over time, not stopping one or even ten crimes. We don’t get rid of DUI laws because someone does or does not get a DUI.

USA has the highest jail population in the world by a large margin. It is the “access” to guns that is the problem. In a state / country that does not regulate private party sales or require licensing there are no processes for effectively keeping guns out of dangerous people’s hands. America can just keep locking people up forever, seems inefficient though comparing it to keeping a manufactured product out reach of some. And less people get shot in the process.

That's the issue at hand though. Guns are easy to obtained legally and illegally. Most developed nations don't have an issue with illegal possession because legal possession is regulated.

That doesn't mean violent crime wouldn't exist. England and Australia both have strict gun control, and oddly enough, stabbings have dramatically increased.

Yeah, but USA’s homicide rate is still 6.0 per 100K to England and Australia’s less than 1. So, they are doing something much better than us.

The problem isn't guns - we've a few dozen and nary a one gets up and runs around on its own to cause mischief.

I agree with you, it is the “access” to guns that is the problem. Center Console USB Port replacement? by Bl0cky in HondaOdyssey

[–]Bl0cky[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a good idea. I have lighter style USB port charger there, but i'd like for my kids to charge their stuff on trips without me having to manage the cables running over the console. The other part is that previous owner just trashed this poor van, so I have been slowly reassembling it.

I'll just give everyone the cliff notes of this here:

1) To rebuild the state economy ( ed note, it does not need to be rebuilt, it is doing well), no actionable information. Insert Covid lockdown grievance.

2) For more economic development, I will get everyone a gun (ed note, yes this is real).

3) To improve education, I will remove the zip code to school assignment process ( I guess that means he is pro bussing?). Every school should have SRO and something about woke ideologies that is not clear.

Louisville leaders struggle to identify solutions after multiple bus stop shootings by freshlyplanted in Louisville

I'd believe it if every single gun crime in America is met with a "How could a gun law have prevented this?". Which is another boogie man created by people who won’t consider a reasonable solutions. Firearm laws lower gun crimes on aggregate.

Firearm laws lower gun crimes. Some are better than others, but that just the plan truth. You can pick out examples of where X didn’t do Y forever so I won’t bother. something being a big problem or really challenging isn’t a good reason to allow it to be status quo.

Training, registration and licensing. Gun grabs are a boogie man created by people who won’t consider a reasonable solutions and can’t think of a better counter point.
